I know it is hard to believe, but it will get better. It is possible that this guy does not know he has it. Most people get it from someone who does not know. You don't state where you live but if you are near a major city there is a good chance that there is a support group in your area. The support group here in Atlanta really helped me out when I was first diagnosed. Have you seen the h dating sites? Mpwh.net and positivesingles.com...

phen, Check this out: http://www.ashastd.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=4182 , Sep 20, 2006 12:00AM You're right, this has all been addressed several times. However, it's in many places and might be hard to dig out. So I appreciate the opportunity to put it all in one place. In theory, the body produces immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies first, to a variety of infections, and immunoglobuin G (IgG) antibodies later. Over time, IgM...

What are your antibody levels?
Published (2009-11-21 01:43:00)
you cannot determine how long you have had the infection by antibody titer levels everyone will be different and it will vary from test to test due to margin of error of the test.

bully it just would not show up in your blood after 3 weeks. I started having symptoms immediatley after expsoure, I have HSV2. I wasn't even thinking "H" I just thought an infection.. I went to the doctor and he tested me for everything but "H this was just after a month, so it is probably a good thing he didn't check me for "H" he told me I did have an infection. Well, another month went...

I'm with JB on this one.... you can still date and meet girls!!! I understand that it's a little different to just having random hookups, but you can certainly still have some fun!!! Just do it safely and monitor your OB's etc. Besides, what goes on behind closed doors is your business alone. You could always try the line of defence in saying that you aren't really into casual dating right now. However, if the right girl...

I think it all depends on ones immune system and their genetic makeup.. some people are more prone to other illnesses because of it being in the family.. if somone already has a comptomised immune system it may make things more difficult for them..but otherwise its basically harmless..

Hey LuLu,
You are not alone. I can personally relate because, I too, have herpes whitlow.
As far as hsv-2, i got that too, but i will tell you this about herpes, it's only a skin condition like any other non life threatening one.
You are body will build antibodies after several OBs on your fingure and soon you will have less outbreak.
As far Hsv-2, same principle, antibodies will ...

That goes for ghsv as well as oshv.
The greatest chance of passing herpes along is during an active outbreak.
Good luck!

Also, my lips were not tingling at all until after the cold sore was there.
Additional questions: if we both can get cold sores (meaning we both have oral herpes) does that significantly lower the risk of spreading to the genitals?
Does the fact that the cold sore was not cut or wet have any significance?

You could try: http://www.herpes.org/herpesinfo/asymptomatic.shtm l Although it does not specifically state when "America" and the Herpes community was prevy to this information, it does state that in 1994-1996 some goofy paper was published that said "Hey ya'll, you sheddin".
I contacted this in the late 80's as well and had no reason what-so-ever to believe that I was contagious if I was...

The only reason you NEED to tell anyone is if that person is your doctor or your lover or mate or potential mate or lover. There is no reason in the world that you need to explain any of this to your parents. If you are self-supporting, of legal age and operating as an adult there is no reason you need to "confess" things to your folks. This is personal medical information, and is also about ...

On friday the 13th I was diagnosed with Herpes Type I.
I am not sure where I got it from. Maybe my current partner or maybe my
case of Shingles that I had years ago.
I am 44 years old and wonder why am I dealing with this NOW. I'm going through usual anger and grief. The outbreak I guess was kind of bad and VERY PAINFUL. I have decided on supressive therapy.
thank you for listening

Dude... chill. I dated and had sex with a person who had HSV-1 (oral infection, only, as far as we know) for 5 months.... He was never broken out and I lucked out: I'm uninfected, as proven by two blood tests in one year.
However, I got really sick;I was misdiagnosed with HSV. Turned out to be nothing serious... But now I'm in your boat: I'm terrified of getting it for real. After all that time...

Hey there and welcome
As you probably know by now the virus can lay dormant for years. Are you having any problems in the genital area? HSV2 is usually below the belt and 1 is usually on the mouth area.
You found a great place to gather info! also, this is a great place to meet others in the same boat!
Hang in there!

From what i've heard is yes you can get herpes from using someone elses razor. not positive on that but thats what i've heard. and as far as not having symptoms in 2 years from being with your ex, its possible to have gotten it from them and never shown symptoms. that actually happened to me. i have been in a relationship with my bf for 5 years now (he gave me herpes but didnt know he had it) and...

my only concern here (trust me, i would truly, deeply *love* to put my ex on there) is that people could be sued if they put up someones information without proof. there is absolutely no doubt my ex not only gave me this disease but did it knowingly and intentionally. i couldn't prove it in court though.

From what I have read they are the same thing, but it's how your body absorps it, ie Valtrex gets converted in the liver so you take less tablets per day than acyclovir.
Some people find acyclovir harder to take as it can upset your stomach more than valrtrex.
There have been more long term studies for acyclovir than valtrex as to figures for suppression.
The price seems to vary ...
