XBMC and Boxee are based on the same code and can offer similar features. XBMC is a straightforward video player, Boxee has a social component in that you can see what your friends watch with Boxee also and give/recieve recommendations.

Hi webjay, I don´t know if the hardware works with ATV, but the main problem is the software. Only up to EyeTV 3.0.2 is working and you need to patch the ATV. There is an older site explaining: EyeTV - AwkwardTV The most recent software as far as I know is ATV 2.4 and nitoTV 0.8.0 with EyeTV 3.0.2. I am using it with a Miglia Mini DVB-T stick. Frank.

I see mdhelper is referenced in other threads. Does this work on a PC, or only a Mac? I actually have a Mac, but I've only used the pc to sync with the phone, and so the backup files would all be pc files.
Also, it seems iTunes creates 3 files with each sync: info. plist, manifest.plist, and status.plist. I see a few of these in the thousands of recovered data. Does anyone know if I should ...

atvusb-creator does more than store certain documents on the USB drive. It creates a specially crafted partition which is the boot drive and uses that. Truthfully, the easiest way to create a patchstick that installs Boxee or anything else really is atvusb-creator.
If you wanted to create a prepackaged file of some sort, the only thing that would really work is an image of the usb stick ...

No changes have been made to better support 2.3 in this version so if the missing features during quicktime playback are a problem then i'd still suggest staying at 2.1.

I have a similar problem. I've gotten hold of three MacBooks ( two 2.0GHz and one 1.83GHz) which are all broken. I managed to build one working from parts of all three but now I have two spare motherboards.
I want to take the motherboards and build them into a box and run them as a server/mediacenter at home.
However it seems like the computers refuse to boot without the "built in" ...

Great guide, but I got a few questions:
1) How do I active in iTunes without having to sign a contract?
2) Will this process work if then phone is restored using iTunes to the latestest software, then activated using iTunes to sign the cert, then jailbroken using blackra1n in order to install OpenSSH in order to access the cert files?
3) What do you mean by "certificate ...

Hi Smoker,
What gives you the idea it's Nito causing the problems, it could also be ATV 3.0.1 or not?
FYI, I am running 3.0.1 and screensharing to my mac works fine, for the rest I sadly don't have am EYETV to test....

Yes, it's gone. I made a CFW with the file, and it was completely ignored. The new PhoneFormats file is /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/PhoneFo rmats/UIDefaultFormats.phoneformat.
But I can't edit the file (It shows some data in a hex editor, but I can't understand it). Any help?

use pwnagetool to create custom firmware 3.1.2 to restore to your phone.
custom firmware will keep you baseband as is and you continue to use ultrasn0w as unlock. IHMO, this is my preferred choice.
Answer to all of your questions is yes.
Search the forum here or go to iclarified.com for tutorials

You likely do not have an unlock problem but an activation one.
My recommended path.
Jailbreak with blackra1n
Restore a custom ipsw made using pwnagetool 3.1.4 using iTunes.
The first step should get you an activated iPhone that you can make/recieve calls with. Then the second step should fix Location Services, YouTube and allow tools like DiskAid and iPhone Browser to work.
