Wireless desktop PCI network card
Published (2009-11-07 20:11:00)
yes, that exact card. Vista's WU immediately found a driver for it. (Home Premium, Vista x64. It was ID'd as a realtek(? - IIRC) chip. I'll check later tonight and report back). It works fine for file copies, both ways, ranging into the multigigabytes. (DVD files, and some HD mkv files - 2 months, almost always on) I have to ask: what card are you using currently, and exactly how does the problem arise? I/[H] may be able to help...

A nice sound system usually implies nice A/V Receiver/amp, so you'd be using HDMI? or Optical? If yes to either of those, then no need for a soundcard, as the receiver will do all the processing. If using analog, try onboard HD Audio first. From TWC, you'll be able to watch any shows in clearQAM/unencrypted with a standard $50 - $100 HDTV Tuner. You can check the TV channels under resources at the Silicon Dust website for specific...

Securing your wireless
Published (2009-11-07 19:25:00)
Disabling SSID isn't really a security measure. Sure it hides it from grandma next door, but the curious booger pikcing wanna be hacking kid next door who begins to get an interest in attempting to hack a neighbors WLAN will use tools that will....<guess>.....still see it anyways even if it's hidden. Choosing unique is without question a good idea for reliability, who needs 7x wireless LANs saying...

is there a list of GPU oc'ing?

best option is to google for a review of the card you own.. try to find one that has the overclock numbers.. and that will give you a base line on what to try and reach..

I wouldn't get too excited personally. Even if 20" models do arrive next year, they are going to be a lot more than 50% expensive compared to an LCD.
Has there been any news on improvements in OLED's lifetime/uneven wear of pixels? Do we know for sure OLED's will be suitable for computer monitors or they're going to be used only in TV's, like plasmas?

Sadly sounds a lot like most of the rpg AI that I've ever seen.
I won't have my copy until next Monday (the 9th) so I can't offer advice yet, but I am so looking forward to trying this out.
If I do come across any revelations once I get it I'll definately post back here though.

As the Consumer Electronics Show grows near, NVIDIA partners are having to get their ducks in line for the upcoming show in the second week of January. However many are asking, why exactly they should be there spending hard earned money with nothing to show off except rebadged parts for generations past? Certainly the 8800 GTX / GTS 250 has seen many CES presentations before. We have word ...
