Doug, the free apps they were talking about were from iTunes for the iPhone. Don't think you can really get spyware and trojans on the iPhone

Honestly, I believe a HT application is a totally different animal. There is so much noise in a 5.1 / 6.1 mix that I believe the cost of upgrading to a true Hi-End amp is, well quite frankly, overkill. I find that it all sounds good. Noise is noise. Will it make a difference, the specs says so. Can you hear the difference, maybe. Is it worth it, unlikely. Now, if you are using your HT system for some critical listening for 2 channel then that...

Got my second DS&A exam back. Brutal... absolutely brutal... Without scaling I'm still maintaining a C in the course... so most likely a B for a final grade provided I keep it up. I've never worked so hard for a grade in my life! Lot's of people will be weeded out this year... Normally 35% of the Sophomores don't make it to Junior year in EE. One professor has told us that this year it will be close to 40%. Off for...

This build is not going to be a rush project for two reasons. First, it is college football season and Saturdays get no attention unless I am tailgating or enjoying a game. Second, I currently have a nice CC speaker (Paradigm CC-470). So I am not missing out on anything there. I had some ¾ inch mdf left over from a shelf building project I had been working on. Some of it was ...

I've used a Monoprice HDMI splitter successfully with a 1069 processor. I can't imagine how it wouldn't work with the newer 1570 HDMI board. I had HDMI handshaking issues but it had nothing to do with the splitter. Several components worked fine with it including a PS3, Toshiba HD-A35, and XBOX360.

Either you have exceptional over the air broadcast quality (which we don't have in the SF Bay area), or there's something with the setup on your players, your set, or whatever- I have a couple of players, both selected for well above average picture quality, including DVD upscaling, and DVD looks NOWHERE near as good as Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. Of course, Blu-Ray disk mastering is by no means a ...

Clipping somewhere in your signal chain would do that. Possibly your measurement chain. Measuring THD at listening position is not going to be simple- there are so many room reflections by that point unless you've gone to some herculean efforts. Usually nearfield will work out better.

this is indeed a strange question. do you even consider HTM3s or HTM4S? they are both smaller, especially HTM4s. another choice are CM2 center, i won't recommend go anything below that. otherwise, the sound matching would be a problem.

there are lots of things to consider. I'm no expert but I'd be inclined to mimic Mr Carver's new Cube. A large front firing Ribbon with Midwoofer & drones. Or take a page form Allison acoustics & SL Pluto. Nice robust front firing tweeter & an up firinng woofer. Another more ambitious idea might be a very small 3/4 neo tweeter mated to a Dome mid (Morel or Dayton) wtih again...

BSC may still be required if you don't place the speakers right in fron of the back wall. Infact jed did use a little of bsc for my speakers. And he also adjusted the frequency response for my listening position (nearfield that is). If your not on a budget, and space is not a problem, you may wanna try a sealed monitor with accuton 7'' (the sealed box version) in a 20l cabinet (or even more ...

Sweetspot for this woofer is 22 liter, this information was provided by the designer of the woofer (on a Danish forum). Almost every Scanspeak woofer is optimized for LF extension,(heavy cone, light suspension), this results in a larger Vas.

wildmda, What are the rough dimensions? Mine is 11' X 16'. I have 802D's. There is a door on the left wall about 4 feet from the wall. Both speakers are a couple of feet or so from the back wall and 1-1.5 feet from each wall. They sounded very, very good when I first put them in there.
