Newbie help needed on monitors
Published (2009-11-07 23:45:00)
TN is the worst of all the LCD display technologies out there. IPS,PVA and MVA type LCDs are all superior to TN type panels in colour reproduction and viewing angles. TN panels tend to be 6 bit unlike IPS,PVA and MVA which tend to be 8 bit. This means a typical TN type panel can only display 262144 colours at any one time and flicks between colours quickly to give the impression of greater colour depth. IPS,PVA and MVA panels can display...

You know, the last two lines and your sweary name really spoiled the whole "I am very mature" thing. That said, true enough, but not all young people are that mature (I was similar when your age, which wasn't all that long ago really!) - otherwise there wouldn't be any paedo cases in the news. Think of it like the right to vote, sure there are definitely people below 18 who should be able to out there, but the...

For getting more stuff on screen at once it's the resolution that's key
Both of thoes you listed are 1920x1080. that's 1920 pixels across by 1080 pixels high
A pixel is basically the smallest dot your screen can make.
to give you a rough idea check what your current resolution is, right click on an empty area of your desktop, select propities
That will open a window called "Display propities...

My only guess is that when you reset the bios it reset something like speedstep or you know some of those features you are supposed to disable (dont know exact names for gigabyte motherboard)
Otherwise got no explaination.

Fraid not (don't know why it happens), and my login lasts for about as long as I keep the cookies. All I can say is that it used to happen to me a long time ago when I was using university PCs. The odd thing is that it would only happen on Hexus and none of the other forums I've used.

Should be in hardware or help really...
However I'll lend what knowledge I have anyway. What's budget?
If you can afford it get an i7 920 and a Gigabyte UD3R.
If not then an i5 750 and again a Gigabyte UD3R (but a different socket obviously).

GRAPHICS CARD 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 I think that GPU is crap for playing most modern games on medium details and seeing as that monitor also sports a high res, that will further restrict your gaming unless you game low res which looks like dog puke compared to when just lowering the settings of a game

LOL I get the same thing. I don't mind macs at all, but I don't know why so many science users feel the need to bang on about them all the time. It's not like they should have to convince themselves of the merits.

Yes but not buying until I try the demo.... which they won't release until after it hits shops.
I'm a little anxious about if it works or not, similar to Hellgate London with an FPS RPG

Nah, there has always been fanbois, and there will always be here too.
The decrease in traffic on here and the number of members that are on constantly has more to do with your thread title than fanbois

Abuse is abuse, it's wrong whatever the circumstances.
On the other hand, people should learn to take some personal responsibility. It's not like being overweight, whether by genetics or just plain laziness, isn't curable. If you have a problem with your own weight, then start doing something about it, if not, have a nice life but don't go moaning about it.

What on earth are they playing at other than wrecking the franchise? I honestly can't see the rationale behind crippling the game.
