ball covers
Published (2009-11-21 15:29:00)
I get Urethane cover balls only, due to the higher spin I can get with the softer cover on my Tour quality balls. And if you think those XL5000's are hard, just be glad you don't have to play with the older XL2000 balls. I haven't played the XL5000's but I know the XL3000 was MUCH softer feeling than the older XL2000 rocks.

17* Hybrid vs 3 wood
Published (2009-11-21 17:07:00)
From my experience the 3 and 5 woods will give you more distance than the hybrid. I believe the hybrid would match your 7 wood in distance. But if you are happy with your fairway woods, why stick a hybrid in there?

Rivalry weekend
Published (2009-11-21 00:16:00)
Over the next two weekends, most of the big college football rivalry games are going to be played. In our house, the big game is always USC / UCLA - and it comes with a twist that always makes for a rather unique viewing experience: I'm for SC , while my wife (who was led astray by her family as a child) roots for UCLA. It doesn't matter if we watch the big game by ourselves or with a room full of partisan friends - it gets pretty...

17* Hybrid vs 3 wood
Published (2009-11-21 18:22:00)
Well, I'm new but I would think the woods would be better. My 5w is 18d. And I'm looking at those very high degree woods that Bang makes. I'm also looking at hybrids but it just makes sense that a larger head would give you more. It's interesting that each company has different degrees for each club. You have to watch that. One companies 3 wood will be different than another companies 3 wood.

Stop & Go

Shade pretty much nailed it: when served lemons...... Here are a few practical things I find useful. First is practice routines. Consider that if your normal round with your group is four hours, you actually want as much time to lapse between shots as possible. If your average is 2.5 minutes between shots, you will be taking about 95 strokes. 3 minutes will produce an 80,and 3.5 will will be par. Dedicate some of your practice to waiting one...

A pre-shot routine. Don't go over board with it and delay play, but a ritual routine you perform every time.

that actually sounds pretty awesome, I don't know if I'd purchase one, just
because it'll probably be cheaper for me to just rent a $3 cart at the
course I usually play whenever I don't rent a golfcart , but if I had to
guess, something like that could be pretty popular.

I'm sure that's got a LOT to do with it. I found a Nike PD Long ball and
played it and really did like it and it's got a ionomer cover. I haven't
played a PD soft ball though.

Give that 3 wood a try, it can't hurt.
I seem to hit my 21* hybrid a little more consistently than my 3W and 5W, so I leave the FW woods at home. When I go to the range I take all the clubs and check to see if something has changed with respect to consistency, I think everyone should have both hybrids and FWs. But just keep the ones you hit best in your bag.
I'm going to keep my ...

Looks like Pensacola is in the cross-hairs again. We survived Ivan in 2004 (barely), Dennis and Katrina in 2005. We're watching, closing the storm shutters and checking the emergency supplies. Just hope this is mostly a rain event. Thanks for your concern. If the power stays on, I'll give an update tomorrow and another on Tuesday. And I'm playing with a group of fellow geezers at NAS ...

When I first learned how to play, the guy who taught me said, "Forget what anyone else scores, you're playing against yourself. The leaderboard will take care of itself." So, I try to go out and play for enjoyment - but I have been competitive since birth, and if I notice I'm a stroke or two ahead or behind one of my playing partners three holes in to the back nine, I can't help it - I want to...

Well like most folks you have hit-idus; a magical disease that exist only in your mind.
One way to get over it is to line up 10 or so balls straight in a line either teed up or on the ground. Step back and take a few practice swings, back and forth without pausing, then walk into the hitting them with the same rhythm and tempo. In otherwords you are going to have to learn to trust your ...

If I were you and you like the DD2 I'd look into these for about 1/2 the price of the Golf Prides TOUR_COMPOUND
And also HIREKO carries KARMA brand grips that come in many different styles at a fraction of the price of GP's too with no loss of quality.
