Tiger seems in control. He has a 3 shot lead after 12 at -14. He hasn't missed a fairway or a green. He's still a bit off on the greens but it looks as if he fixed whatever was wrong with his swing.

Does a big belly = better distance?

There is a friend of mine who is one of the best amateur golfers I've ever seen (he's shot 66 on a 7,000 yard course which has held (and currently holds) the US Open qualifying tournament in Europe. He's not small, by any stretch of the imagination and by crikey can he hit a golf ball solid. He takes the club back what looks like half way and then it looks like all he does is leans into it and hits it and there's this crack...

I’ll tell you again Larry…stop beating yourself up with 99% of this and that…you’ll never sort it with that kind of thinking…there are enough people on my range and course that can swing properly in terms of shifting their weight that I discount the percentages you like to hang on to; they LOOK great…discard them, they’re a crutch…shift your weight like you were...

How to generate clubhead speed

Since most (99% according to TPI) amateurs fail to make the transition weight shift, since essentially every amateur fails to post before they swing, it seems logical that first they should FIRST fix this fundamental of fundamentals. Accordingly, I have been trying to do that for 3+ years, during and since I did the TPI program (twice). I have been unable to do it-- and my teacher/s are not surprised since they will admit that NONE of their...

NBA 2009-2010 Season
Published (2009-11-14 14:25:00)
I got the Hornets, and they are poised to take the Saints' spot as a cellar dweller. We are absolutely strapped against the wall by the salary cap and stupid long term escalation dollar deals to old, one dimensional players (Mo Pete, Peja Stojakavic...) who spend more time in the ice tub and whirlpool than on the floor. They did try to make some offseason moves to improve our depth (which last year was 5 players; the starters - go to the...

Can someone explain how you 'tip' a shaft to some desirable degree and how do you determine what that will be? Is this by trial and error? Is soft-stepping another name for tip trimming (don't know where I picked that up from)?
If you shorten a shaft, which end do you shorten, butt or tip? and do they do different things if you did one or the other?...

Who's going to catch him ? James Nitties ? Manny Villegas ? To be fair most
of the big name Aussies are in the field. I think he'll hold on. I hope so.
He looks like he could use some time off. He doesn't seem to be enjoying
himself much. I watched the last 10 holes or so last night and I don't
think I've ever seen that much cursing and club-slamming from someone with
a 3 shot lead in the process...

Good opening weekend of football. As you stated, there were some big games but the rest were pretty much blowouts (USC and Florida, just to name a few). The only other game you didn't mention was Boise St. And Oregon. Oregon went to Boise on Thursday night and ended up losing the game 19-8. Boise St. outplayed Oregon by quite a bit but couldn't do much once they got in the red zone. If I ...

I think you're on the right track in that it probably has something to do with going back & forth with different length sticks. My solution is to don't do that again ! Seriously though, I've never had the disease except early season at the range a couple of times. I'd intensely focus on nothing but the ball and hitting it hard for as long as necessary until they went away. Not very scientific I ...

I'll be interested to see how much the Yankees do in the offseason - I suspect not much. I think (hope) they let Johnny Damon go, whether they go strong after Holliday or not. Damon's a defensive liability. Offensively he showed up well this season, but if I've said it once, I've said it a million times - the Yankees lack a true centerfielder/leadoff man. Jeter does fine in the leadoff spot, ...

I used to play with a bunch of low handicappers (4 was the highest in the bunch) and at first, I would really get nervous playing with them. Eventually, I saw all of them hit an awful shot, just like me and it took some of the nerves away. I mean nobody plays perfect, they just played a lot closer to it than me.
Once I accepted their skills, I stopped trying to drive it out there with them, ...
