DIY Glow Sticks and Sheets
Published (2009-11-10 18:03:00)
Thanks Skylighter. I have a SMALL workplace to do my projects and am still getting use to the spray paterns. I tend to hold the spray cans to close to whatever I am spraying and that is causing most of my problems. Also after a hard days work and a few gin and tonics sometimes I am lucky to just hit whatever is being sprayed. The wife will not allow me to spray paint anything at night anymore. The last time I spray painted a project with white...

When using a spray paint or spray gun, it is best to start and stop the spray off of the object to the left or right. Keep the nozzle at a consistant 90 degree angle to the surface. Do not rotate your wrist. Rotate your elbow to keep a consistant distance and angle to the surface. This will result in a much smoother, more consistant spray. But keep in mind the critical part is to start and stop the spray while not pointing at the object.

Polyurethane molded mallets
Published (2009-11-04 14:05:00)
Yeah, and I didn't feel like getting into dimensioning this item, etc. and expecting some definitive response. Dyes are involved too, too many variables - for instance, the maker of the urethane we use suggests not adding in quantity any more than 3% of the total mix, but if this powder is suspended, not dissolved, seems that will not matter - we'll see!

Scavenger Hunt at Night painting...
Published (2009-11-10 11:17:00)
So, Abbeytoo got Espunked ? But back to the original posting - agree signs would be the way to go, but the ability for them to be seen all night depends on a lot of things; darkness/ambient light, light eposure before dark, and of course time (going to be a dim soft glow after midnight). The Ultra green and aqua would be your best choices for all night visibility. Plan on several coats of glow paint to get the glow bright enough to last all...

Polyurethane molded mallets
Published (2009-11-04 15:08:00)
TBourne, I am sure once you get to playing around with this stuff you will have plenty of ideas. I was thinking you may want to drill and fill on the wood blocks so they can be seen by the musician in the dark. Just a small dot should do it. Also have a look at this charging station device made by Lambda. Something like it could work very nicely for the mallets.

White water-based glow paint help!
Published (2009-11-05 15:31:00)
So does this mean it should turn white after a minute? I've observed it for longer than that and observed no white at all. Is there a best way to charge it to see white. So far hasn't come close to the bright white pictured on the website thumbnail.

Thanks!
Awesome, I'll pick some powder up when I can finally decide between V10 and Aqua Or maybe I'll just get a quarter oz of both. Hmm. Is this stuff sold in stores or is the only option online?
Unfortunately the most translucent of translucent polymer clays is still very milky when baked. I really hope the end result won't be as bad as the regular glow clay. I'll post pics once I ...

Great job. Now a few more ideas come to mind.
I have used plastic sheets without the self adhesive glue and sprayed the plastic with 3M Super 77 glue - then using a salt shaker filled with powder I shake over the plastic sheet. You can then spray the glue over again and sprinkle - as many times as you wish. 2 coats seem just right. I use wax paper under my projects as it is cheap and easy to ...

I printed up some stickers for a customer who was using them for some type of tree marking night trail. I have no idea how it worked out for him. The ideal tree for a clear glow sticker would of course be a white birch..... I would strongly recommend you use a marker rather than deface a tree. As Ben Jordan said " If one day the trees could speak they'd say very mean things."

White is created by mixing green, blue, and strontium orange. When charged with a powerful light, the green portion will overpower the blue/orange for a few seconds. A few seconds later, the blue catches up and actually overtakes the other two colors. At about 1 minute, the colors normalize. Our goal is to keep it as close to white as possible throughout the decay. However, this is more ...

You would want to use the V10 powder that is available here http://glowinc.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=3
It is the brightest and longest glowtime around. You won't be disappointed. I promise! Just add it to your mixture before you pour into the mold.

Hello everyone! I am a newbie with questions.
I will try to paint the interior walls (metal) of a optic flashlight with Ultra Green v10 solvent-based.
I read almost all the answers to questions like this that the water-based V10 is best for this. But why?
What is the problem of solvent-based paint? Why is not recommended for almost nothing? Some examples of what to use it with ...
