JPEG vs. RAW
Published (2009-11-10 09:20:00)
Everything you say is correct. Regarding the RAW+JPG option that is really not neccesary though. The camera simply takes the existing RAW image and does a conversion to JPG. No camera actually shoots in JPG; JPG is a file created within the camera. Thus anything present on the RAW should also be on the JPG file (asuming no losses). But it is possible for the conversion process to create anomalies, thus JPG is less dependable than RAW. I would...

QUOTE (ravenhecate @ Oct 2 2006, 06:15 AM) I have a question not about the book itself, but about some information about nightmares. How many people have you come across that have never had any nightmares? I can honestly say I have never had a dream I would classify as a nightmare. I have had weird dreams, one's that made me say "humm, what a strange dream I've had." Every time one of my dreams...

Don't quit Ron Kolek!
Published (2009-11-09 02:46:00)
I'm sure it's a lot of work running radio programs. It's a lot of work getting guests. Perhaps three shows is a lot, so how about keeping one of them, like GC International (Richard is adorable!). I've listened to dozens of shows on the internet, and the GC is of very good quality. Ron knows how to move a show along. I do like Spooky Southghost too, but they aren't as regular with their shows as the GC on...

QUOTE (CaveRat @ Nov 9 2009, 10:19 PM) QUOTE (APGBryan @ Nov 9 2009, 09:15 PM) [That is very informative and I appreciate the exhaustive reply. I understand what you are saying regarding not knowing the elements of the evp, etc. I had never really considered this, but I was under the impression that you had set those standards to eliminate the possibility of false positives. If one wanted to be confident that...

ghost box

No they don't (well, those who sell them would like you think they do, but that's just the way of the salesman). All these units do is scan radio stations in an endless loop, and people claim to get "responses" to questions when the radio spits out a word or two from part of one of those scanned stations. One of the more well-known faces in the paranormal world, Christopher Moon, had the audacity to charge folks...

I personally use Audacity, others use Wave Pad to listen and cut the EVP's from the audio clips, both are shareware... As for finding a dead quiet area, that's near impossible to find... When ever you're conducting EVP work, you have to be aware of what's going on around you and any thing you hear like a car passing, a creek in the floor boards when you step on the floor, to a dog barking...

QUOTE(MoonChild @ Feb 28 2006, 11:06 AM) Some people feel the intense need to communicate with someone who is dead. Usually, they desire to contact a loved one that they have lost or some simply harbor a fascination with death or the dead. When one wishes to reconnect with the presence of someone they have lost, they may turn to methods involving communication with the dead. When one is...

Well if you are writing a sci-fi story then I guess anything goes. Meters that go off, beep, light, whistle, play the Star Spangled Banner.... Do like all the other story characters to impress the readers. It depends on the make of the meter, some simply give a meter reading, others blink lights, still others beep above a certain point. But if you are trying to be realistic then no ...

Depends on what you want it for. Witness interviews and logging purposes any reliable recorder will do. Stay away from the ultra cheapo ones, theyare prone to breakdowns. You could likey get a decent one around $50 and up. For EVP work you need stereo capabilities and decent sample rate to prevent false positives. You may get EVPs on cheap ones but they also are prone to false positives...

This ghost town is now owned by the state and is a wildlife management area. You can however room freely check out the old school house and cemetery. When we researched this land, it wasn't the Black Plaque it was some other sickness that came from the water supply. the whole town got sick and most had died, it is worth the trip to check it out and to look up the history some people ...

Oh one more thing. We both are believers. She says she refuses to do this, because if this is the case, she does not want it attached to me. So would it be possible to do it while she is sleeping, or if I have something of hers or what? Thanks.
