Some other things you might try just so you're sure the wastegate is actually working is to temporarily tee a vacuum guage into the line from the solenoid to the wastegate cannister. Get enough hose to run the guage inside the cab then go for a drive. Make sure the guage is keeping around 15" or more of vacuum at highway speeds. If it drops lower than that for more than a few seconds check the wiring to the solenoid for a bad...

I installed one on my 02. I pulled the wheel, brake caliper, rotor. and I think backing plate. It is a bolt on part with anti-lock brake sensor attached., you have to unplug and plug your new one in. Took about 1 hour total. The part was $180.00 but that has been a couple years ago. My buddy got both his done at the dealer cost $600.00 per side. Good thing it was under warranty. But it is an easy fix. Cass,

We need to know what the vehicle actually is- 1/2 ton, or 3/4 ton and VIN letter "F" or "S". It makes a difference when troubleshooting. A VIN "S" will have in addition to the waste gate an EGR valve with two more of those solenoids in addition to the wastegate solenoid. The vacuum lines and solenoids can couse a lot of grief. Check all of the vacuum lines from the pump to the wastegate and EGR ...

I've heard that Smarty TNT or something like that is a best for the 24 valve. Keep in mind that your VP44 IP is prone to fuel starvation-led death, so a lift pump upgrade would be advised.

You should still be able to get the bolts from the dealer. I would however replace all of the bushings with polyurethane bushings instead of rubber ones. They will outlast and out perform rubber bushings every time. If you buy them from a company that specializes in this type of bushings they might be able to supply the new bolts also. An offroad center would be my first choice in trying to ...

My truck has a cooper radiator on it an I would like to install a new one.
All I see is aluminum. My radiator has 4 rows and what I can read is only 1
row in the new ones. Is this correct? Does anyone know a good place to get
a well built radiator or any advise? Thanks Cass

My 84 K-2500 and 99 2500 Burb both have 8 lug, 16 inch wheels on them.
The K-2500 has a 9.5 inch ring gear rear axle with semi-floating axle shafts. The differential cover must be removed to access the "C" clips which retain the axle shafts. The ends of each axle tube have a single bearing to support the outer end of the axle shaft.
The 99 Burb has a 10.5 inch ring gear axle with full...

Simple test: Plug it in a wait a few seconds. You should hear a slight hissing sound (like a tea kettle on a stove as it heats up) if you stand next to the vehicle.
No thermostat on OEM type block heaters. You may want to use a timer to save on electricity costs. Three to four hours is enough to warm the engine for a cold start.

I am looking for new pushrods and came across these. Is there a certain way that you install these one end up and a certain end down? Do these sound ok? "It is tipped with one welded .375 diameter M-4 tungsten steel ball (copper flashed with hole) and one welded .375 diameter steel ball (with hole)." Thanks Cass

I have bought 6.2 heads to replace my 6.5 cracked ones. The casting # is
the same but of course the injectors are tilted a little. I noticed this
morning that the pre-combustion chamber (the round circle above the valves)
seem smaller or not oblong as the ones in my 6.5 heads. Do I need to try to
change these or can I change these. Will it make a difference to anything
if I do. Thanks a million. ...

Actually, a 1995 van should have a mechanical fuel injection system very similar to the 1984 Suburban you referenced.
A PMD is a pump mounted driver, the "black box" located on the driver's side of the injection pump (if it has not been relocated). It is part of the electronic injection system that began with the 1994 year model vehicles (but not vans).
The OPS is the oil pressure ...
