CX oil filter relocation
Published (2009-11-21 21:38:00)
On the C5 4cyl diesel engines (well the couple of variants I have seen) the filter is a cartridge and is mounted vertically with the cover being removed from above. You use a 27mm (IIRC) socket to easily unscrew the cover, lift out the old cartridge and O ring, replace the O ring and cartridge and screw the cover back on. The new O ring even comes in the box with the filter. No oil is spilt down the engine, mechanic or on the ground.

Koleos /4007 Offroad?
Published (2009-11-21 09:43:00)
I was just having a look on the net and came acros this vid and some others of the Koleos offroad. Now Im not that experienced as a off road driver but I was wondering what others thought of taking cars like the Koleos and 4007 off road with the amount of electronics under the bonnet etc, would anyone here be hesitant to drive through small rivers and streams like these blokes did? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LM_f5Z-tvqg&NR=1

Spotted yesterday in Ganmain: 207(?) wagon, dark blue. White D8 406 sedan in Wagga, south-western outskirts of town, proceeding spiritedly through a roundabout. Quite possibly Andrew (505604)! Brown snake called James, seen near Waterview St Ganmain.

BA 5/7 Rebuild.
Published (2009-11-21 20:43:00)
I'll probably get laughed at by those with no experience, but I found the Haynes a bloody good resource when I rebuilt mine. it was very thorough and clear, made the job so much easier. A few things you'll need would include some good strong circlip pliers, long legged bearing puller, and maybe a press, or at least access to one. But take your time and all should be straightforward. I think the hardest part of the job will be finding...

I am bemused by comments that clubs have fears that the introduction of the revised permit scheme will bring about the end of the clubs. It will have exactly the opposite effect - no club membership - no permit. The only clubs which will die from this are those who insist upon cars being 'better than showroom' before they will issue a club permit. It is my belief that many clubs may opt for what ...

Thanks Craig / Shane,
I found it on the rear of the motor.
I got intrigued when I was looking at the Valeo online parts site and they listed the CX Engine Code when you were looking for parts on specific cars.
Though I did not find my specific number the way it is set out looks like a series of numbers went with a car model. Mine was M25-666. The listed M25-662 for one model car and ...

Good to hear a report from Simon too, sadly as an aside to the deaths. Will a more comprehensive report on the event follow?

What kind of 505 engine do I have?
G'day,
I am a pug novice and have a 505 1984 executive with a replacement engine, however I don't know what kind of engine this is, (STi, GTi, K-jetronic, etc), and my workshop manual's walked. I think the new engine's slightly newer than the old engine, and I can easily go check systems etc, but ...

You have my sympathy. AFAIK, in NSW the trader is the entity you paid the money to i.e. the dealer. I am not a lawyer and this is not advice.
I bought a Golf.

Couldn't you get a test drive in a 2.0lt HDi 308?
1.6lt 308 against all the other 2.0lt cars puts it at a bit of a disadavantage

the picture shows it has nothing in relation to the 2cv... stupidily big wheels, no ground clearance, no space inside. Gimme a proper 2cv anyday. The thing would be awful to drive... crashy ride, hopeless on a bit of rough tarmac let alone gravel... And no space inside to fit anything.

IMO get a second opinion...
1. Not likely for the "whole" exhaust system to get blocked.... more than likely your cat is buggered..... you can check the rest of the system yourself by looking underneath... look for holes (=noisy car) and cracked joints, rust, etc
2. Clutch...it could be any number of things.... might just need a new cable...or even adjustment... or clutch could be on its...
