I'll probably be the only /naysayer/ here but I'd strongly suggest that you save your hard earned cash and pass on the Summilux 25. It's a very /good/ lens but not a *great* lens, especially at its high dollar selling price. I'm very guilty of selling Roel on this lens, and others, but I found that $800 looked a lot better in my bank account than it did sitting in my camera bag. If you're looking for a /normal/...

How to count 7D shutter actuations?

How can you compare the dark face of the watch against the faces with reflections? Nothing useful to see there ... The other crops look very similar to me ... I find it ridiculous to see comments like "how /far/ the F70 is behind" and "the sx200 is /far/ better" ... there is hardly any difference. Sheesh ... people need to get decent monitors ...

I see no reason to believe that they couldn't slightly increase MPs while lowering noise a little bit. The d3s seems to show that they can tweak for significantly better noise performance, so maybe a modest increase in MPs could be done, while decreasing noise. But, I don't want more MPs if more noise comes with it.

You've picked a great kit, you really can't do better if this covers your needs in terms of focal lengths and aperture. You could consider the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 (in VC or standard form) for a faster aperture, but less range. Although I like your choice of 16-85 + 35mm prime better as it gives you more range and even faster aperture at a fixed perspective for night-time/indoor shots. FWIW, I ...

My guess is that the aperture value iis only a guestimate. There is no electronic coupling from the lens to the body. Have you actually verified that the actual aperture set on the aperture ring is what is being recorded in various lighting scenarios? Heck for all I know, maybe Adobe has come up with a clever ' triangulation' algorithm for calculating this? Cheers. -Norm CutterUK wrote: >...

Keith, I wish Nikon allowed 2 stops bracketing as well, but you can work around it. Shoot 9-bracketed 1.0 EV frames and only keep frame #s 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 and you'll have 5 frames at 2.0 EV apart.

I suggest you learn how to set the white balance on your camera to a custom setting when shooting interiors in particular. If you shoot Auto WB only, Then there are many tools to help you do fix it in post - one being the WhiBal card http://www.rawworkflow.com/whibal/ One shot of this card in the scene you are shooting and you can more successfully use the "eyedropper" sampling method to ...

Funny you should ask. I have the D Lux 4 and have been considering buying a smaller camera. I had the Leica C Lux 3 a very small camera that could easily fit in my shirt pocket. Unfortunately, I traded it in when I bought the D Lux 4. I certainly miss the ease with which I could retrieve the C Lux 3 and snap a quick picture but, I sure love the D Lux 4. In fact, I have the Nikon D 200 and ...

I have the zeikos grip and it seems to be pretty good. Although someone is going to clearly jump out of the crowd and say that the aftermarket grip voids your camera warranty. I think that's bull so if she does break take off the grip and put the camera plug back in the bottom and send it to nikon not even stating that there was a grip on it. I'm sticking with my aftermarket grip and it feels...

I still think that at this moment, a dedicated video camera works better than a frankencamera. That may change in the future, but for now, video cameras do a better job of "videoing" than a hybrid camera. Just for giggles, i purchased a Sanyo HD100 at Walmart for $179. It is a very small camera that looks like a flashlight! The LCD folds out from the side. This little thing has a 5x zoom ...

They change the RAW with each new model. ACR 5.5 has not yet caught up with the 7D. ACR will be 7D capable in a month or two. DPR used a beta ACR 5.6 provided by Adobe for their review. Anyway, I have no comment on the review in your message. His IQ results don't match those I've seen posted here nor my images. So I suspect it was something in his procedure, perhaps processing maybe not -- ...

Rumor is that it, 1Ds Mark IV, will be 32mp based on the pixel pitch of the Rebel XSi (450D). But, good luck getting even 5 fps out of that. I would guess it is more likely that it would be 26.5mp based on the same pixel pitch as the 40D and 1D4. Then, with a couple of processors 25% faster than the digic IV, it could do about 5.5 fps. Also, with the advancements of ISO tech, low-light ...
