1. Gainsbourg 2. Streep 3. Mulligan 4. Swinton (I think being a Swintonian adds a bit to the love for the performance. Still an excellent turn though.) 5. Cornish My personal actress ballot thingamajig. Barrymore and Lange were both excellent in Grey Gardens, even though its a HBO release, I still kind of consider them. Tautou and Rudolph were pretty average. Antichrist is a very love it or hate it film, I loved it and found Gainsbourg to be...

Primo, Mon oncle d’Amerique is one of my favorite movies and depending on how horny I am in that moment, I may even prefer it to Marienbad. And more importantly, I also thought of Inland Empire while I was thinking about interpreting Marienbad! Lynch is the only one that follows the path opened by the Alains.

The director is clearly frustrated with narrative cinema but not quite ready to commit to the completely political.

I'm sad to say this but...what a disappointment.
Totally kidding. Loved it, to no shock or awe.
Mulligan was truly sensational in her role. What I really loved was how she could deftly move from a portrayal of just your average teenager whom I could truly relate to, to a powerhouse diva capable of delivering you a fiery monologue for the record books. Brava!
Molina is a close ...

The final act really jilted me. I was appreciating it's campy style until it did the whole 180 and jumped all over the place. Seriously [ Spoiler: ] what was the point of the entire library scene? That's like 10 minutes of uselessness apart from him choosing a glimpse of heaven
And I hated Diaz's performance. I think she took that performance way over the top. Subtlety would prevailed here...

I have served Brad Garret and Luke Wilson coffee before. Brad Garret was HUGE. I'm six feet and he towered over me. He was with his kids. His voice was so distinct that you could tell right off the bat that it was him. Nice, but didn't tip. Luke Wilson tipped. He was extremely nice.

Wait, how is "the Sandra Bullock of The Proposal " an even slightly positive thing?
I can't imagine this one going anywhere.
