Yes, your last suggestion is one that I made directly to Sam a while back -- I suspect an earth connection somewhere that is going high-resistance when something in the case flexes. Whatever, it's going to be a difficult and fiddly one to track down. Hugh

Im a confirmed fan of the U87. That mic never lets me down. For vocals its a rare voice that doesnt sound at least good through it, and some sound phenomenal. Its pattern switch also makes it very versatile in a situation where you need minimum mics with maximum capability. It will earn its keep, Im sure. The only ribbons Ive had in the past were nothing special to me and terminally fragile, so Ive nothing to add on that subject....

It doesn't help if you've already written automation. If you group the faders, you can rewrite the whole automation for that group, but once automation is written, the faders follow that written automation. As the OP is happy with that automation, and just wants to trim the overall group (Logic doesn't have automation trim) the best and easiest (though not the only) way is to route all those channels to an aux channel, as...

i dont have an issue with the Spotify model. The problem is it's not going to work.... the advertising revenue - as in any area - has drastically reduced since they started up (and that isn't long ago) AND very few people are taking out subscriptions. Hence - they HAVE no royalty pot. The number of plays do NOT generate cash - how could they. All that can be shared is proportionality of revenues based on plays - If they only...

In reverse order... I'd see no reason to go "better" than say a DAV BG1 or possibly an Audient Mico for a 2-channel pre-amp. That leaves say £4.5k for mics. I'd go for one LDC and two SDCs (assuming stereo recording of acoustic instruments, percussion etc is envisaged). Like The Elf I am slightly underwhelmed by the current fad for ribbon mics on everything! I have a couple, but they would not be my first choice, and they...

It's quite a common issue with various Asus boards since the nforce 3 days which is why I won't work with them! If your lucky it'll be a fixable ground loop issue. Martins link should see you right in those cases. If not try disabling anything power saving in the bios (speedstep, c1e, esit)and that might help in this instance as that's the normal fix for gigabyte boards. Otherwise it's try and get a bios update out of...

Quote Mahoobley: As a native of London, I resent the insinuation that Romford is part of London. It's Essex. Also Barnet (where I'm from specifically) is technically Middlesex, although I believe that doesn't exist as a county any more. It's on the tube, so it's good enough as London ... although having said that so is High Wycombe, and that's a ghastly place where no one in their right mind would wish to live I...

Thanks TBTS - it's a 160GB 5200RPM job, so not great. However, I'm planning on swapping
out for a 500GB 7200RPM drive in the near future. I'll probably end up doing
the final mixes on my desktop PC, though: 2.4GHZ quad core, 8GB RAM, 4x500GB drives.

And this is from the Gruniard, supposed home of gentle, liberal minded, fair's-fair type
folks. Imagine what it'd be like on the Daily Mail website.... Amazing how
willfully blind to 'the other side' of an argument people can be, when it suits them. And
the fact that so many others are of a similar mind makes it all the easier to feel it's
OK, despite recognising it's not legit. Museli...

When my Oxygen8 broke and I got a new controller I got an Axiom.
I preferred the
unweighted keys of the Oxygen8 to the Axiom semi-weighted ones and I don't use the extra
controllers on the Axiom, so I wish I'd just got another Oxygen8.
My point is that
you may want avoid paying extra for weighted keys and controls you might not use.

I haven't heard any of those, but I'd probably want to start with the Fostex model. They
have a lot of experience with small cones. r.

This is very subjective and depends on the singers, the guitars, the room etc. However,
SM58s wouldn't be my first choice for folk-type music. Have they specifically asked for
them and, if so, do you know why? I think you might fare better with some suitable vocal
condenser mics. Do you have any that you own or could borrow to try on their voices? There
are also some other dynamic vocal ...

I'm using Waveburner on a MacPro bought late last year and it's fine and should be
compatible with any CD burner which OSX recognizes according to the manual.
I
can't explain your problem but perhaps you could make up a short CD project in Waveburner
using unedited commercial audio CD tracks to see if the probably is replicated.
Also perhaps try a different brand of CDR.

If you can hold on just a little longer I have a feeling there will be some bargains to be
had. Rumours of a soon-to-be-seen replacement for HD as we know it are rife.

Quote Glenn Bucci: Wish I had the
money to buy their 300's.
Oh yes, the 300's are by far the best nearfileds I have ever had the pleasure to
work with.... but cant afford either.
Lets hope they get continued under a different name at least
( Sennheiser or Neumann???)

That's what they make dual boot for - boot into a lean and mean partition, problem free
audio. Boot into a beverley hillbillies general partition, fill your boots.

Obvious one here, Melodyne. The old version - DNA is amazing but to my mind not the leap
that the first version was. Must be used for good not evil, of course.

If you pan a signal hard to one side, then when listening in mono it will drop in level by
6dB relative to anything going on at the centre of the image. That's just a
simple fact of mono summation life -- and the specific reason why it is important to check
your balances in mono. Stereo mixes and their derived mono versions will always sound
different. What you need to do is find the ...
