just home after another unsatisfactory gig soundwise. we use a pair of 12" mackie powered speakers (srm350 i think) running through the passive crossover of a SWA1501 sub. the resultant sound is WAY bass heavy - on instruments, mics and mp3s. the trim on the sub doesn't do much, and i can't see that i'm missing any switching option.. I've added a cheapo behringer graphic to the chain ...

Hi - I use Sonar, but went on a course where they had Cubase and was struck with how easy it was in Cubase to click/draw and "draw" the velocity of notes when you're editing a midi part. Am I missing how to do something similar in Sonar, or is this only a Cubase thing? (I can do individual notes in piano-roll, but it's real fiddly)

Hello, I am responsible of the music in a 24-hour multimedia event in October. For some reasons we need an audio interface with 4 balanced analogue outputs. Unfortunately, there is few money for the audio hardware in this project, so currently we selected the M-Audio Delta 44. I don't have any experience of M-Audio interfaces. Do you know any reliability problems with this particular ...

How do you listen to MP3 music files in your studio, what player software do you use? I used to used an old WinAmp which was simple and great. Lately I downloaded the latest WinAmp but it's very bloated and does so many unnecessary things like indexing my MP3 files library. Windows Media Player is as bad. iTune is the same, so big. So I'm looking for a solid player that does the job...

i have recently upgraded my laptop to a slightly higher spec and now run cubase and protools with 2gB of ram. i have read a couple of sound on sound articles that touch on the subject of ram and DAW's. i would like to know if there is any point in upgrading my laptops ram to 4gB as i seem to understand that both pro tools and cubase will only utilise up to 2gB. any thoughts on this ...

Hi, Today I sat down to record some riff ideas for my next band practice and as usual plugged straight into my Alesis IO|2. I opened cubase (LE4) and when recording, somehow my computer is shifting everything I play up by nearly a semitone. I checked it wasn't happening in cubase as I have reaper as well so opened that and the same thing happened. Monitoring direct there are no problems...

Hi! I haven't been around for a while but I have a question that I know you guys will be able to answer! I have been doing some live recording for bands (for live dvd's to go with their album releases). The problem is last time I did it I had to use 3 computers running 2 channels each, which was far too much. This was the only way at the time that I could record it to have six ...

Anyone used any of the EV stage mics for vocal work? Thinking about getting an upgrade, but dont think a condenser would be suitable, so looking for a dynamic model. Started using beta-58s and 57s, but i decided i hate them. Obviously it needs to cut through but without being too harsh in the 4-5k area. Need a nice round warm sound. For a band playing indie-rock type music. any other ...

In a recording studio what are the most noticable hazards/risks that could cause harm or injury to people? -------------------- Guy with a high drive when it comes to every aspect of music. If that even makes sense. If you're cool with me I am cool with you. I learn more about music everyday.
