The MACD itself is the difference between a 26 period and a 12 period exponential average. The signal is a 9 period exponential moving average of the MACD to show buy/sell opportunities. 3 popular ways to use the MACD are..... 1) crossovers. 2) as an overbought/oversold indicator. 3) signalling an end to the current trend by use of divergences.

I've spent the day moving slowly forward through the J16 thread. Currently at post 1400. Just 45300 more to go Gotta get up early to leave the car for a switch to winter tires so no weekend chart analysis today. I'm focusing on improving my knowledge through the J16 material right now and I'll be doing that for several months probably. Trading will have to come second for a while. You can trade just the 5m chart but again only on wicks outside the 20:2 boll upper or lower. Two rules: look for fairly level bolls (sideways movement) and either take at 10 pips or trade to the center boll. Sikday If your trading the 1h you need to build in a bigger stop or hedge against your longer term position. I basically trade the 1h chart. Two strats. Strat one. I look to the day chart (about twice a month on average) for an entry and...

Hi tmoneybags,
That's exactly what I'm using and trying to do... same daily pip goal, the same broker, same pair, same timeframes, and basically same tools, except my timezone puts me in the asian session.
So what patterns do you look for mostly? and how do you use the tools together with patterns? What kind of stoploss do you use...don't see one on your chart...? How do you manage ...

Hello,
In my opinion: it depends on the REASON for stating your gains. If it's to demonstrate the profitability of your trading system or trading methodology (to others) then I would say that you should NOT multiply the number of pips that the TRADE ITSELF moved by your lot size because in effect this means that a trader with MORE capital would always make more pips on the SAME TRADE ...

Thought I'd start this thread based on some conversations elsewhere in the forum. The idea is to base intraday trading decisions on bollinger bounces and moving averages. I would like to focus on GPBUSD for the moment though this is easily tradeable on most of the majors. This is a well kn own method but I thought this thread would be helpful to show examples and any problems that arise....

Thanks for the thread! The longer timeframes are always ignored even by me. That is where every newbie should start(in my opinion)4hr,daily weekly. You have to walk before you run.Do you use your robot with your own setups.I am interested in robots only for position of a trend setup when it says get in i get in and then i call the shots there after with stoploss and take profit.

My opening post will be a warning about flaming.
I want this thread to be a high integrity thread.
Coming back from my holidays, I am horrified to see blatant name calling on one of the threads on this forum and am wondering why the admin has not banned the posters.
I guess it is me that will again have to deal with it and alert the admin.
If anyone even hints at flaming on ...

Hi guys! This system has been very profitable for me so I thought I'd share it.
I've traded this live since late 2008, and I've also backtested it manually from Oct. 2004 (as far back as my charts go) to the present day and it has remained profitable all 5 years!!

Just a quick reflection before posting my system:
After making quite a few pips on the EUR/USD over the last few days movement, I closed that trade yesterday and later opened another trade that seemed good:
EUR/CHF sell at 1.5727 approx 2400 GMT+1
However this morning as I checked, the trade was going against me and i decided to close it, thinking that it was a case of overtrading on ...

Well, Michael, as I understud you were trading only by looking at one indicator and also not using any money management nor stop loss. That's what true traders call gambling.
No wonder you lost so much money, most of new traders do with a lack of knowlige, but don't take it as a very bad thing, maybe better would be to look at it as to an important lesson.
You said you ...
