A probability based statistical edge is one type of edge, perhaps not what she was referring to though. The point is I think, you have to find what works for you, and not follow the lemmings off the cliff

Daily Economic Commentary: Japan...
Published (2009-11-19 21:35:00)
It was New Year in Japan yesterday as the Yen rallied hard against all the major currencies. Optimism in the global capitals markets suddenly dissipated. This, ironically, lifted the JPY in a broad-based fashion. Japan’s economic calendar was free of top tier reports yesterday. The equities markets in the US slumped due to a lack of positive economic news in the US. Not even the better-than-expected Philadelphia Fed manufacturing index was...

Can a position be partially closed?

Thanks guys, so if all my money is in one lot, then no. I would have had to intially separate my position into many smaller lots, many small positions, and then I can close out as many of those smaller lots as I deem necessary. Makes sense. Thanks Pippy

Good point (and something that I think we all missed)!!! Sorry for that. I'm still happy to provide assistance as best I can though. Who knows: maybe getting his TRADING to 'come right' would be the beginning of getting OTHER things to 'come right' (although that's probably quite a 'stretch' of the imagination I suppose). And Cas: good point also. Although I've not been privy to seeing floor traders...

Thought I'd start this thread based on some conversations elsewhere in the forum. The idea is to base intraday trading decisions on bollinger bounces and moving averages. I would like to focus on GPBUSD for the moment though this is easily tradeable on most of the majors. This is a well kn own method but I thought this thread would be helpful to show examples and any problems that arise....

your post really concerns me, I urge you to be very careful. An open wallet will attract many who will happily help you to empty it. During your 6 months of study have you placed even a demo trade ? IMHO using the service of a signal broker is akin to seeking the golden goose, plenty of money without the work. There is no rush, the market is not going anywhere, continue your education, save your ...

The basic rule of thumb is to not trade pairs sharing a common currency (e.g. USD/JPY and EUR/USD) because anything that impacts that common one will impact both/all your positions - unless you scale back to keep your risk to that one currency down to your limit. After that, look to avoid currencies like EUR and CHF which tend to be fairly highly correlated.
In general, less experienced ...

Just a quick reflection before posting my system:
After making quite a few pips on the EUR/USD over the last few days movement, I closed that trade yesterday and later opened another trade that seemed good:
EUR/CHF sell at 1.5727 approx 2400 GMT+1
However this morning as I checked, the trade was going against me and i decided to close it, thinking that it was a case of overtrading on ...

I'm glad to be the first one to reply here. Just by chance I checked the old thread and found about the news. I want to thank you for your good work so far, Tymen. I hope this new thread will bring some more light as the other ones did in the Forex misty jungle.
All the best to you and everybody, Tymen.

Looks great, especially if you’re trying to grab some pips and... sleep. And currently I’m suffering from a shortage of both.
So, this afternoon I’m going to start drawing my trend lines... going to try it on GBP/USD, EUR/USD, GBP/JPY and AUD/USD.
thanks!

Hi tmoneybags,
That's exactly what I'm using and trying to do... same daily pip goal, the same broker, same pair, same timeframes, and basically same tools, except my timezone puts me in the asian session.
