Next issue: Oil pressure light...

I'd say to check the oil pressure first. Those sending units go out often. They're only about $5, so you could just replace it and see if it fixes it.

Faulty DPF sensor would throw a EGR code. A bad converter(clogged) would rob your car of power and cause overheating issues.

The way I have learned things so far is a lot of reading. How would a bad sending unit effect the oil pressure? The oil pump is on all the time, right? So how would a sending unit effect the pressure? By the meaning "Sending" means that it just sends the Oil Pressure to the "user" How can it effect the actual oil pressure? Just trying to figure stuff out while it's dark outside..

83turbo. I like your plan but do you actually think your grandfather cares if his old car has 80 h.P. or 800 H.P. ? He will be so thrilled that you didn't scrap it. That will light up his eyes. Give him a ride in a 800 H.P. car might be his demise. Your a good guy and not just thinking of yourself. We need more people like you. Don't destroy the car. Leave it just as he bought it. Restore it that way. That will mean more to him than...

It won't affect the actual oil pressure, but can send a false reading to your oil light, tricking you into believing you have an oil pressure problem.

If you want a nice ride with plenty of power. Completely upgrade your ignition system to a performance(not just OEM), something along the lines of Screamin Demon. Everything....plugs, wires, dist, dist cap, ignition coil, modual. Everything. That will bump your hp up from 105 to around 135 depending on the parts you buy. And will also run smoother.

That's the one and mine is not working like that. So, it sounds like now I have a bunch of digging to do. In the engine compartment there's power all the time. On top of the fuse box, inside, I checked and there's only power with the switch on. I'll try to get that all checked and see what is what.

I would say to get a gauge to test what the oil pressure is. It could just be a bad switch. How many miles do you have on it? If the oil has been changed often, it should go well over 200,00 miles. I bought an E150 that would lose oil pressure after a short time at highway speeds, it had a gauge. The oil pickup screen in the oil pan was almost plugged. I cleaned it and went another 30,00 miles.

I have the same car, and that is normal with an escort, mine is a little more advanced though, and yours wil probably get worse to the point of dying at nearly every stop light, putting it in nuetral when coming to a stop helps, and once it gets really bad you may have to put it in neutral and keep your foot lightly on the gas while holding the brake just to keep it around 1000 rpms. I was just ...

Re: 2002 Taurus Door ajar light
The switch is in the door latch. Open the door, spray the latch with WD40 or penetrating oil. Open and shut the door a few times. I would follow up with a good oil after you get it freed up. Unless you are certain which door is the problem, do them all.

Ok, so about 8 months ago, the Check Engine light would illuminate and stay on until we got the code cleared (more on this later). Now, it's begun flashing at any given moment in neighborhood driving, or sometimes (very rarely) on the highway.
When the Check engine light is flashing, I can physically feel something wrong with the car. It's puttering...

Spotted on ebay in Abergavenny, South Wales. About a 3 and a half hour drive away from myself in Derbyshire.
Looked good in the photos, sounded good over the phone when spoken to the very nice gentleman who owned it. Obviously this would be bought unseen and uninspected, but a 19 year old car has to have some defects, so lets take a chance!
The owner said the AC belt had shredded and hadn't ...

OK. Here is what I have found. I can get it started now after a while. I can tell there is a different sound when starting and running...It is missing.
The driver side exaust gets FIRE hot in no time including manifold, cat, and exaust gas is blowing out tailpipe.
The passenger side does not get that hot, and does not appear to be blowing anything out tailpipe?
What gives? Pluged ...

It probably needs the trans, replaced. Even though there's a lot of old fluid in there, the main cause when it's the fluid is the filter. So if the fluid and filter were changed it should have stopped the shudder and still have a lot of old fluid left.
Just for your information, I think the 2001 was the last year that a drain plug was in the torque convertor to allow it to drain. When ...
