Worst City for Walking :Is yours...

Good grief, mms, how horrifying! I have always stayed inside the Cable Cars when on them but houseguest (usually Italians) have hung on to the poles and been on the outside which has always made me a bit nervous. Thank goodness you all were not injured! I wonder what is the most dangerous, the Cable Cars or the taxi drivers. Some of the taxi drivers are real scary although as I mentioned to date I have not been in an accident when in one,...

Cornell vs. BU? We went to that game in 2007. Sorry, no suggestions for a "regular" show, because personally, I wouldn't skip the hockey game!

It'll be a great drive, hope the weather behaves. How you feel about driving the whole length depends a little on how you feel about averaging 30-40 MPH at best all day, and whether anyone in the car tends to carsickness on winding roads. There are good maps of the BRP and SD ( Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive) available (from Park Service) and they will show you the best places to get down ...

The I Don't Care might not want the job. Could be drawing unemployment and just going through the motions.

Flowers
IMO there's nothing better than flowers on one's birthday
If she's cooking/ entertaining for Thanksgiving you can choose a fall arrangement that can double as a centerpiece. Otherwise, just her favorite flowers

I like bubbly for pre-dinner drinking. There are some good Cavas and Proseccos and other sparklings for under $20/bottle. We drink Pinot Noir with the meal. Usually one from Oregon.

lol jsmith - can I add Chester to your list of places beginning with C that aren't anywhere near Harwich?
Tom - seriously you could go to Cambridge. a stopover there would be interesting and fun. there are trains to Cambridge from both Liverpool street and King's Cross I think, and from Cambride you can get the train almost to Harwich - the last bit seems to be by bus.
or get your cab. ...

I never noticed this until we lived outside of the US but you are right, I believe that it is typical of people from the US.
They don't do it here in Argentina. No one asks what you do for a living.

How come there were no demonstrations by born again Christian hypocrites with cries "Not in our name" for the sexual abuse of prisoners at Abu Ghraib?
How about "Christians" of the Westboro Baptist Church reaching out to families of fallen soldiers instead of picketing the funerals of soldiers? Instead they rush to condemn and support hatred.
Religion is the root of all evil, no matter ...

Oh, I like that, CPG. And so true!
Yes, the next two months will be challenging, but, as you said, we have this great support group right here. I actually find this better than the meetings.
So, here's wishing you and all the rest of us losers a great month!

I had an emergency in France and had pretty much the same experience that you had - except that I went to a hospital. It cost me $45 plus about $1,000 in perscriptions - which my US insurance paid for.
No way this type of system will come to America, unfortuatly.
