Lodging recommendations for London
Published (2009-11-07 09:33:00)
jent - i agree Drury Lane much more preferable a location - but often with TLodge and PremInns the more far out the location the cheaper they are generally - most tourists obviously want to stay in the center of things from a tourist's angle - others however like myself actually enjoy staying in more 'real' areas of London and do not mind a short commute - and to get much cheaper accommodations. I pay 23 pounds a night for a...

George W. Bush Visits Fort Hood

George & Laura mean well, but I can't help but wonder if Bush hadn't lied about the need to send soldiers off to a sensless war we wouldn't have 13 people killed and 30+ wounded at Fort Hood in the first place.

I didn't mean to sound argumentative. But isometrics is certain a term in current use in exercise and fitness circles, at the gym, with your trainer, whatever. And I think a really valuable concept to understand, so worth discussion here. How to make your own body work to tone muscles, even without any machines, equipment, or weights.

This thread is perhaps a reminder to women with lovely jewelry to list who each piece should be passed down to I believe. My sister-in-law did that and I thought it was a very good idea. I don't have the problem as I only have one child, a daughter, so everything is left to her in my will and she can do with everything as she wishes.

really? be real, there are no true scales what one should weigh. A small boned 5 ft 3 would not weigh the same as that small boned who has big bones, like big feet, big hands. some have only a 5ft and half shoe, others a ten, so sizes are not created equel,

The Denver Post article cited by bp gives us a very clear picture of why this sort of thing could even happen: "Five years into the war in Iraq and six years after the invasion of Afghanistan, the Army is sending soldiers with physical and mental injuries back to war, at times overruling physicians' classifications of soldiers as "nondeployable." Facing demands unprecedented in the history of the all-volunteer force, the...

Hey G, You could save yourself a lot of headache if you limited your visit to Switzerland, Venice, Florence and Rome. Why are you giving such short shrift to CH? Visiting both Cinque Terre and the Amalfi Coast on the same visit is redundant. One day in Venice????????????????????? Have you checked train schedules? Hope this helps.

That's a pretty poor response rate. Sadly, people are either clueless (not understanding what to do), lazy or waiting to see if a better option comes up.

I don't understand either. It seems some people are just too prickly, too easily bothered by differences. You see it here on the lounge, with quick retorts to perceived slights, stubborn grudges, etc. Some here are accepting, for others it's their way or the highway. It's sad, interesting, and reassuring because often the people who seem to us too narrow and rigid in some discussions can be ...

You are making me smile Peg as sometimes I have strange thoughts too. I got stressed this summer because I have not kept up with the insurance business changes. Well so what, I sold our insurance agency some time ago so what was I fussing about? At least your thoughts were more interesting than mine.

Hello, charnees, due to never having a firm itinerary when going to visit Bolgna there has never been a hotel room available due to trade shows in Bologna. So visits have always been just for the day and evening. And I am not one to rent an apartment so I have no knowledge about what is available. Have you checked http://www.slowtrav.com/ by any chance? Gosh darnit, Europe is a big place and it takes a while to see it all. Don't like it? Too bad. No one is stopping you from going wherever it is you'd like to go, so why moan and groan about other peoples' choices?

Yes, the next two months will be challenging, but, as you said, we have this great support group right here. I actually find this better than the meetings.
So, here's wishing you and all the rest of us losers a great month!

"Classroom crucifixes were made compulsory by two laws in the 1920s when Italy was a fascist state.
They have been applied less rigorously since 1984, when Catholicism ceased to be the state religion."
In never knew that.

I saw this on the news last night. Apparently the best thing to do if you own a Toyota is and I may not have understood completely but:
1) rip out the floor mat
2) if this doesnt' work, slam hard on the brake
3) engage the parking break
4) put the car in neutral
I have a Toyota Prius so I am a little concerned.

"Love you, hate your shoes" has stuck in my mind for ages now
I sometimes, as others do too, say in parting... " love you , hate your (you supply the word) " and it is always funny.
I like it when he tells people they are daft ... funny, charming.
I love the way he talks about Jackie O too
