They're not real HDRs and they're almost always overdone and not what HDR was intended to do. Look I have nothing against what you consider 'artistic expression'. Just start another group for it or join one of the existing groups already on Flickr: www.flickr.com/groups/fhdr/ www.flickr.com/groups/raw2hdr/ (actually a misnomer because a single RAW could not ...

I'm sure some of you has already noticed that the preview in Photomatix is not very the same as what you get at the final. here, the preview in photomatix: (and, for sure, also what I wanted to have) But what we get, at the final, is not quite the same: So, how do you manage with this? (it's often usefull to simply decrease de light smoothing of one...

I was driving into work and we had this big dust storm this afternoon that made the whole sky yellow. Had to pull off the highway and snap this one. 5 jpeg shots from the Powershot 540 done in Photomatix, Intellisharpen and then VelviaVision plug ins. The City Center project is sort of our 'Dubai', only with booze and hookers! There's like 25 sky cranes set up on this massive ...

I'm seeing some undesirable effects in the shadows of HDR processed pictures which I think is a result of the D Lighting auto feature being on in my Nikon D700. What I see is an enhanced graininess in the shadow areas the the HDR processing is picking up on. Has anyone else seen this? Am I right to assume its a by product of the D lighting? thanks...

Okay, now I've been playing around with HDR for about 3 weeks now and I'm enjoying the results. I’m still very much a novice, but there are a few HDR pictures that I've produced that I'm quite proud of. So I thought that it would quite nice to start a topic for people to share the HDR photo that they're most proud of! This doesn't have to be your best photo - it’s a photo that you...

Can't really say people are abusing the effect. It's more become a style, but personally I try to use HDR to recover details lost and to capture a range that film and analogue pictures captured. Occasionally you find uses where you can't capture it with any type of equipment like this shot: This looked exactly like what my eye was seeing (candlelight in the outdoors under new...

Hi all! I have been admiring many of your HDR images and I finally decided to give it a try. This was from 3 exposures and I know many do not like the over processed look, however I was going for a dramatic effect here. So let me know what you think... Thanks.

I've noticed recently that a lot of people seem to have a pretty poor opinion of HDR. Kind of to the point where it seems to be the butt of a lot of jokes and generally shrugged off as not a very good way to post process any of your photos. basically i equate this to the fact that in just about everything people do in life 90% of it is going to suck, 9% will be good and you'll ...

I've done a few photos in HDR, and I've never been too pleased with the results... I thought I would ask what I'm doing wrong, beginning with the setup... I usually set the ISO to 100, and put the camera in AV and set the aperture to either 4.0 or 8.0 and then AEB bracket, +2, 0, -2 ... and these images are currently set in raw. Is there anything that I'm doing wrong with ...
