Thanks Gwennie..... I think I'll have a chat with my regular PC shop in the New Year and get Windows 7 up on my current machine in a 2nd drive, load what I can and maybe 'dual-boot' if that's still possible.

Oh, my bad. Sorry. I saw the 7 and thought Windows 7, and then I saw the other 7 and thought Windows 7. And since, you know, everybody should have the same version of PSE that I do, I took it from there. Disregard. :)

Yes, I did save it as a png. I did close them, and went to open and brought them back in. Will try again tomorrow, after everything is shut down, and rebooted. Will let ya know. Thanks!!!

Thanks Rita & Geoff. I use XP at work & Vista at home. So basically - different operating system, different method. I'll try that.

For some reason, the actions that work for me in PSE 5 on Vista don't work on PSE 5 in XP. I have played and played with them to no avail.
I suppose Microsoft would be glad to know that there is at least one thing that works better on Vista!
So, Niddy, it's not you. The only thing I can suggest would be to upgrade.

Here's what I posted in another thread:
install the .atn file in c:>Program data>Adobe>Photoshop Elements>8.0>locale>en_us>workflow panels>actions. You just need to install the .atn file there and they'll be in the "action player" in the Guided Edit mode. You don't get to see a preview there without running the action, but at least they're easy to find....

Definitely do a levels adjustment layer! Your shadowing looks good, so mess with the middle sliders and highlight sliders. You can always mask out (or in) what doesn't look right. It needs more contrast and brightness, then probably a hue adjustment once you get the exposure and white balance fixed. It would look lovely in black and white.
