I have only just joined this group and saw this post. I have both the 30D and 40D. I bought the 30D off Ebay and it was mint for £280. I think the 40D is a better camera, the image is slightly better, the LCD screen is larger and if you want to do use 10 stop ND filters then Live View is very useful. To solve the sticky shutter button problem: insert right index finger (if you use that one) into mouth, suck, wipe on shirt. It should now be clean.

To be simple and easy to understand. Last week I had several shutter misfires, sounding like a short sequence shoots despite being in single shot. Yesteday, the camera simply JAMMED. The mirror got locked up several times then ERR99. Then it started to shoot non-stop as a fast sequence til it locks up and ERR99. I'm afraid the shutter died or is about to die. The thing is...

A few weeks ago I started having randoms mirror clicks sounding like a very fast sequence shot, but only one picture recorded, but it was still random.
