Running wise just start out slow. You can do 2-3 miles really slow for 2-3 days a week to start out then after a couple of weeks you can gradually start to add days or milage. I would recomend doing only one at a time. the general rule is that you don't want to icrease your weekly milage total by more than 10% from one week to the next. I always eat as soon as I wake up. Try eating a banana or energy bar with water, those should be light enough to give you energy and fresh fuel without slowing you down or giving you a cramp.
