What is your favorite Dip?
Published (2009-11-03 01:07:00)
OK it's hummus (even if we spell it differently lol). I go for crackers and absolutely anything else BUT my fav is not exactly a dipper...take a lebanese bread spread the whole thing with hummus, top with falafel and baby spinach leaves or lettuce then chopped fresh or sun dried tomatoes. I know I am different!!!!(smile) Tonight having it on veggies.

Watching Barefoot Contessa today
Published (2009-11-06 14:04:00)
I was watching the Barefoot Contessa today and she recommended putting oil in the pasta water. Now I was always told not to do this as the sauce would not stick. Does anyone do this?

I did the grocery shopping at a Super Walmart (vs my usual Wegman's). I think the only reason I spent less was because I bought less. Either way, it was a savings. ; )
My mom called and we had a nice long chat.
DS's grades were mailed home and I was pleasantly surprised.

I like to try a few new recipes to change up the holiday meal a bit. I always look forward to the turkey! Yum! Everyone's favorite! And then there is turkey tetrazzini to look forward to after Thanksgiving!

Hi Sillybillymom, welcome to Favorite Food Shows. I usually just salt the water till the pasta is cooked.
The starch from the pasta water, will thicken whatever sauce you are making.

I voted other. My top choice would be basic ranch dip for veggies, but I also like lots of other dips too. I make something similar to Guacamole called Salsamole that is delicious with homemade pita or tortilla chips. I also love hot cheesy dips for tortilla chips. Another favorite is the traditional spinach-veggie- water chestnut bread bowl dip. I guess it all depends on my mood.

Will you be going anywhere today/tonight? DH took DD out for trick or treating Saturday at a track in town.
Do you like seeing the kids/adults all dressed up in costume? Didn't see anyone where we live, lol! But I did enjoy DD's Halloween Parade at school on Friday.
Do you make your food look scary or gross for meals on Halloween? No. I don't think my son would eat something ...

I always do our traditional recipes with one or two new ones thrown in -- usually a dessert and a veggie or salad to play it safe.
I wanted to try a cranberry cheesecake recipe this year, but have not had much luck with cheesecakes in the past. This recipe looked simple so I gave it a trial run yesterday. DH and DS had half of it gone before I had DD tucked into bed. DH said it was the ...

I wish my daughter stays feeling better! I had to pick her up Monday from school due to a fever. She stayed home with me Tuesday but was feeling fine (have to wait 24 hours to be fever-free per school policy). She went back to school Wednesday, but got off of the bus complaining of a stomach ache. I kept her home from her Brownie Troop meeting and tucked her into bed early. Let's hope she ...
