Student Humiliation
Published (2009-11-07 17:58:00)
I told one of my students he was going to fail. It's only week 10, but he's already missed three classes, both quizzes, the mid-term speaking test, and hasn't done any homework. Not to mention is mid-term written was 38/100, by far the lowest in all my classes. It looked like was going to cry. But hopefully he won't waste his time coming to class and "studying" for the final.

Would you stop referring to the Bible as an "individual document"? It is not a homogeneous book, and standards of truth and reliability should vary from book to book, because they are written in different genres. To refer to it as a "myth anthology" is absolute rubbish.

I went to the free Korean class at Sookmyung three weeks ago, and they
wouldn't let anyone in unless we submitted to the ear thermometer. They had
the same standards of hygiene though, just a little wipe with the same
cotton pad between people. I let them do it ( peer pressure), but I haven't
been back. Eww.

The over-achieving senior who runs the international causes awareness club I supervise at our school is currently stressed out of her mind with applications, college essays, school, her extra-curriculars, the SATs, etc. She showed up to our meeting yesterday looking like death re-heated, barely able to stand. But, she slouched over to the computer I was at so we could search for a ...

'But your honour, I was following the road on my new GPS system and using that as my 'eyes on the road' . You know what? The driver of that fucking pink or green Tosca, not sure which, was not on my GPS. I'm pleading not guilty on all charges of driving like a twat and making excuses for it! I think Samsung should make these things more realistic, so I can't be held accountable for that.'...

Do what I did when I worked in a high school (may not work for middle
school) which is to make an example of them. If they act like disrespectful
cunts, take their desk and put it in the hallway with them following, show
them that you wont tolerate that kind of bs in your class. Shame them.
After putting them and their desk in the hallway, tell the class why you
did it and how the next step is to...
