cant connect with tuner v.98
Published (2009-11-25 14:38:00)
If you tried on 5 laptops and none of them will connect, then that mean either the usb cable is broken, or your EMS is broken. The usb error tells me that the usb driver is NOT installed in your system. That makes sense because based on your description, Windows cannot recognize EMS. Thus the driver is not installed. If you have another usb cable, try it. Or if you can, try another EMS.

cant connect with tuner v.98
Published (2009-11-27 12:44:00)
OK i changed the folder around that had the usb drivers in. I just moved the stuff from the usb drivers folder to aemtuner folder and it got rid of all but 1 error. This is what i get now. using usb and usb first. The really strange thing is when i select serial first and use a serial cable i get the same exact error. can not find usb device. why is still asking for usb device when...

i have an hks dli on stock coils in it at the moment, is that good enough? i havent melted the driver yet after driving around for 10-20 min. now i gotta ask, aem would seriously make a ecu with only 5 coil outputs that will melt if you run 2 coils off of them? that is fail right there. just another reason i have been regretting this universal aem crap.

Does V2 allow us to program custom failsafe options? Set: RPM 4000-10000 Set: Throttle 100% Set: Load 20psi+ If AFR =< 12.5:1, then remove 10 degrees in ignition or cut boost in half This could almost be similar to switching to a n20 map, but I do not have any signal output indicating I'm above 12.5:1. If this doesn't exist, I would ask if we can have custom failsafe...

Understanding Idle% vs Target table
Published (2009-11-24 19:54:00)
This particular table, found by navigating into Idle, Idle% vs Target table, Table (or Graph), gave me quite an exercise in reading until I finally decided to just play with it while my car was running. Basically, this is a simple lookup table (reference table) the AEM EMS looks up to find out what percentage of the IAC should be opened to achive a desired RMP. There is no logic whatsoever here, you simply just have to tell the...

Published (2009-11-26 21:02:00)
Okay I thought I had things figured out but for what ever reason the settings I outlined above do not work at all. As far as I'm concerned they should, but they don't. I had to go back to the original settings to get any semblance of correct operation. I took a closer look at the coil dwell settings and found that at some point my max dwell time was changed to 0.50 teeth (min dwell time was 0.05 teeth). That was obviously...

How to setup Gear Ratio Table
Published (2009-11-26 10:32:00)
http://forum.aempower.com/forum/index.php/topic,24657.0.html Just set one up like this. worked great fwiw we had a problem getting 5th gear to show up in a mustang before, it was because both rising and falling edge was checked off.... if you uncheck one you'll have enough resolution for 5th gear.

you would be probably better off using the aem cas disc since it works better with the ems, but I don't know that I would use the z32 box, the connectors are not similar and its hard to get connectors for it. I can't recall how the z31 ecm connector looks, but I would guess that none of the current aem offerings will plug into it so you will probably be better off using the 1050 box ...

1. The automap feature in AEMPro is intended to be used on a dyno where it is possible to hold the engine in one load cell for a certain amount of time. 2. Quite a few tuners have reported the automap feature isn't as fast or safe as manually adjusting the fuel map. Don't forget that a misfiring engine will result in inaccurate AFRs. Some sort of update will be included in future ...

There are three important PDF files that come with the installation of AEMPro, Aem EFI basics, AEMPro User Guide and AEMLog User guide. I recommend you read through all of those and get accommodated to the software before you damage your engine. You need to understand the software before you just go making changes blindly.

Make sure that 10mm bolt for the ECU connector is good and tight. The Nissan connector is known for being finicky when not very tight.

You must have used a key-on power source that turns off during cranking. Common problem with Honda installs.

OK i also tried with one other laptop that was with windows xp. I am still getting the same error. For some reason its just not communicating. When go straight usb from the aem it doesn't recognize the drivers. It doesn't promp an installer when i plug the usb in on any of the ports. The aem is set for usb first. Then i go to use the serial and I'm using the same serial to usb ...

the table you're questioning is whats used to setup the iac position vs rpm. Without the IAC it's going to be tough to get a consistent idle, but there's a couple things you can do: Be sure you have good resolution at idle and that the idle cells are tuned well so there's no afr swings run a bit lower timing than you normally would, however this may make the car stall at times ...

Also the logging seems to be buggy, I have only tried to download one internal log so far but it failed. If it happens again I will get a screen shot. This time it said there was no internal log (but there should have been) then said it encountered a problem and needed to close... On an unrelated note can anyone confirm that the S2000 coolant temp cal is correct? My car did not have ...

I have the PnP EMS for a Nissan S13 (30-1601) with SR20DET engine (3-wire COP from the factory). It was working perfectly on that car. I decided to move it over to my Sentra with a FWD SR20. I swapped the necessary pins in the B13 wiring harness to ensure the new harness and engine looked exactly like the old S13 engine and harness, as far as the EMS is concerned. The engine it is on ...

Best bet with 30-1900 is COP in wasted spark mode (2 coils per ignitor) and not even sure that's possible without something like CDI to shield ignitor from increased load.
