Need A Fan
Published (2009-11-25 13:20:00)
sounds like the original "muffin" type fan . these should not be hard to find . you might be able use a "real" comp case fan (double ball bearing) ... can you steal 12 volts from somewhere ?

Best Way To Troubleshoot?

I would suspect the cable, too. Phone cable is often made from solid wire, & this will not stand repeated flexing. I would use a piece of multi-conductor control cable, with stranded wires. This is available from 2 conductors to 50 conductors or more.

Need Help With Toner Transfer...

Sand until the whole surface is scratched and bright. Make passes at different angles, so you sand across the grain you've already sanded. Oh, and wet sanding is excellent. Probably have to do it wet anyway, 600 grit clogs easily. Then clean off the copper dust with rubbing alcohol or acetone, and don't touch it. For the same reason, don't touch the toner sheet, either. Polarity?
Published (2009-11-25 06:07:00)
Yeah, thought of her when I saw the post. Sorry man. Any chance it's non-polarized? You'd think polarity would be indicated in some manner (grooves, stripes, spots, etc. on a wire, or a mark on the knob), or the first installer would have had the same problem.

Old Crt Again
Published (2009-11-25 07:09:00)
Hmm, this is weird, I've never seen RF have NO static before. Since doing the S-Video without Chroma to RF modulator, then to a 75 to 200 ohm transfo, going across room to TV, there's NO static at all. It seriously looks awesome, with a seemingly detailed picture, for a tube TV set.. How can RF have no static, in the setup I did? That twinlead cable is going beside a TV, stereo, lots of power cables, a computer, and more power...

Not understanding things - is a thing you've got in common with me So...how about making an improved version of the above, and I'll try it on my actual working radio!, how about that?

Usual suspects should all carry them. I've only got 12/24v ones, though. --------------------

Hehe. Sounds like you already know what the problem is. Using Occam's razor, carefully unsheath the splice job, take each joint in turn, and pull on it. Now, if you already know which wire is the "UP," it's obviously worth a check with the meter.

No coloring left on either wire, nor any size difference I suppose... If the threads happen to be metal (i.e. somewhat grounded), ya might check for continuity. Chances are probably slim to none on that anyway though. Maybe someone else can offer more help, about all I can do is wish ya luck (and suggest an LED replacement if it blows).

QUOTE I'd like to build a seven segment clock, but I have absolutely zero experience in electronics. Well shit. Biggest problem with the latter part of that statement is it's hard to guess what's going to be a stumbling block for you. For example, I may have no experience in building a "W", but having nearly 30 years of electronics construction I can build said "W" so long ...

That's probably not something you can "fix" -- the circuit will basically run video from the RF strip into a detector (probably a germanium diode in an IF can) straight into the video output amp. AGC controls average brightness, so black is always black and white is always white. But when there is no white in the signal (or at least not enough), AGC goes up and your dark scenes look brighter....

oups sorry I forgot that I wasn't able to attach the schematic I drew for this. ( but it's more or less what they have in their datasheet ( wolfsen - wm8718) thanks

hmmm ... they are not to expansive with their information . it does look like the switch itself latches on but has 10 ohms of resistance . you will need to use that switch to drive another circuit that can handle the current required .

I got some new studio lights and gear, but I'm having a couple problems. One of them, color balancing and lighting, I'm working on, it's all in the shutter speed since it MUST be manual... That I'm getting the hang of. But another, is anything that's shiny, like the vacuum tube I took a pic of, you can see the lights in the reflection. I don't want this effect, you can even see ...

I don't know about the military, but Morse is still heavily used on the ham bands, despite the fact that knowledge of it is no longer required to get a license in most countries and hasn't been for years. Listen to the CW (Morse) sections of the 20m, 40m, and 80m bands on the weekends and you'll hear plenty of Morse.

Dear all, We have been assigned a bonus project that upon completion will reward us with an extra 20% on our grade! \(yes crazy, but its definitely out of our league\) This is what the assignment handout reads: ,1.1 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS Design an amplifier with a minimum gain of 10 @ 10 KHz, minimum voltage swing of 5 volts \(p-p\) at the output, maximum output resistance of 1 kΩ, ...

Hey guys, I'd like to test some MOVs from 120VAC surge suppresors. My plan is to connect them to 240V with a load (probably a couple 120V incandescent bulbs in series). Am assuming the good MOVs won't conduct anything at 120V, so it will be sort of a generic "go/no-go" test, rather than testing individual breakdown voltages and such (although that's a possible option for later) . ...
