10 or 15 quid for a day's work at Tesco. Could you explain to me what's in it for Tesco?  The range of regulations and legislature surrounding the employment of minors would make it hugely unattractive to a company that expects its employees to interact with adult customers and lug merchandise about. That's why they only usually get paper rounds.  As long as you can read the house number and street...

All that lovely booze - gone! Biscuits! Are you trying to make me fat? Typical. You look for well deserved sympathy, and this is what you get. I might try licking the wall, but I'm not sure if the paint is poisonous - worth a go?

decj: P.S. If teachers don't plan them, then who is supposed to? The person delivering them. More complicated in England where the person taking the PPA time may not be a teacher. Clear cut in Scotland where the class teacher is guaranteed to be replaced by another teacher.

If you're lucky enough to be able to have a child and not go back to work for a while then surely it doesn't matter when you leave to have a baby. If you're planning on having a career break I can't see it making much of a difference if you do it now or in 5 years time as education is always changing.

Cover Supervisors are the bane of my life! Maybe it is just my school who has employed incompetent ones. Classroom discipline does not exist. They NEVER do the work you have toiled over at 5am in the morning during a bout of diarrhoea. Instead they let the class run riot, do colouring in... at KS4!!!!!!!!! They don't follow the discipline system so kids get off with allsorts. Yes i ...

Roma, Gypsies and Travellers have traditionally worn jewellery which is part of their cultural traditions and should be respected as such. Their right to cultural expression should be seen in the same light as that of other minority ethnic communities in our city. If there is a concern over safety then this would need to be discussed with the parents and the Traveller Education ...

You are employed as a Teacher, therefore the Head can tell you to teach any subject they want you to. If you've made it clear that you don't want to teach that subject then the Head may well try to find a suitably qualified teacher, and certainly if it's a shortage subject, they may well feel it necessary to advertise with R&R points. If you've asked and the Head has said "no" to ...

Yes, the Sun supports Dave. They've used her fifteen minutes of fame to take political pot-shots. Like you Lily, I sympathise with the bereaved mother. Her pain must be awful, but I do think her going to the papers with her indignation was an over-reaction, and maybe her way of milking a bit of sympathy for her loss. (The parents of those who have lost their sons DO have our sympathy ...

It's not scary in the least. Those of us who lived under Thatcher for 18 years see nothing remotely frightening in that nice Mr Cameron. Care to share your predictions for what would change under the Tories? I note you suggested on an earlier thread that they should sack parking wardens employed by private companies and liquidate those companies. Do you think there's the remotest ...
