In that case, let's tackle this... Rock Throwing (Ex): When assuming Large or Huge size, a leshy may hurl rocks. Leshies are accomplished rock throwers and receive a +1 racial bonus on attack rolls when throwing rocks. A leshy that assumes Large size can hurl rocks weighing 40 to 50 pounds each (Small objects) up to five range increments, dealing 2d6+5 points of damage. I have no idea! Wikipedia says that raft spiders "can submerge altogether to hide from predators" but isn't very specific. I think we're going to have to ask Cleon and demiurge about this. Incidentally, looking back at the Stormwrack notes, I don't think they capture the diving bell spiders very well. We should probably redo those.

If Jack wants Jane at the table, by all means invite her. She is not allowed to set conditions, but by the same token, she should be granted the same lattitude to express herself. This may end up in a farcical situation where one player says, "Poo!" and she responds, "Language, please," but sure, why not? It could still be good gaming. The important thing, from my standpoint, is that the situation not be...

The large deep voiced man turns towards the inn, "Follow me," he says. Following the stranger into the inn the group finds a beer stained table without a problem. My first lesson when learning 3e was to never mix editions. Since I knew 2e, I tried to basically use what I knew or liked from each edition and tried running 3e characters in it. What a mess and a terrible idea.
I think if you mix 3e and 4e , not only will you be doing what Captain Picard is doing in your avatar, but I'm pretty sure your players will turn Borg and assimilate you....

I dunno if I like the negative Charisma score, since this creature is all about scaring the bejeezus out of people. The krenshar is pretty similar (hyena-like morphology, magical beast, fear effect), and it has a Cha of 13. So I think that we either need to give it a +1 Cha mod, or a racial bonus to the save DC.
Demiurge out.

I think the dissonance arises from the fact that many people find it fun to roleplay having a low ability score as long as they don't have to give up any of the (comparative) mechanical benefits of having an average (or better) score.
It's amusing when the low-Dexterity character occasionally slips or fumbles (usually for comedic effect), as long as he doesn't get hit more often in combat.

I think the player vs. monster math is slightly off at higher levels. However it's in small ways that I don't suspect affect many groups, and is only noticed by those who really get into the optimization aspect. As such I doubt it really matters, since said groups are pretty good about ringing the rules for everything they're worth...

Yes, it's a "tax" in name (by our "gaming definitions" we've all come up with over time), because many people feel they are forced to pay for it in order to maintain viability. But the question past that therefore becomes "how big of a tax"? And that's where your point is absolutely correct.

Terms like these are so universally ill fully defined that it really makes discussions like this hard. I think these games focus on the over all story and that can take precedence over individuals, but I'm sure other people think differently.

Players: Have You Ever Asked, "Why Don't You Take Care Of It?" It's something I see a lot of complaints about. That the high level characters in a campaign should be handling the very things that they are acting as patrons of the characters to do.
As a player, have you ever asked the GM in character, "Why don't you do it?"
If so, what was your motivation? How did it turn out...
