500 clinical hours in a year? Consider yourself lucky. In my paramedic program (college degree) we had 500 clinical hours to complete in one semester (first yr), and 1,000 hours of internship/clinicals to complete in our last 2 semesters.

we got lots of refugees and they are a pain in the ass as a general rule. they griped about their free food and the shelters and hotels weren't comfortable. they are mostly ungrateful and useless peices of society....

I think before we start training basics for 12 lead we need to go more in depth with 12 lead for medics. There are some medics out there who still cannot recognize a STEMI without looking at the diagnosis that printed out from the monitor....

Is it just me, or is Senator Obama is getting a whole heap more mug time on television than Senator McCain? I find it interesting that so many people find Senator Obama to be such a fascinating, captivating person. Heck, one might even call him a media superstar. But, does such a winning personality and a 20 million ...

Fan Refutes NYPD Version Of Yankee Stadium Drama Hmmm...I guess using the bathroom during the 7th inning stretch is not a good idea at Yankee stadium - unless your prepared to get ruffed up by NYPD. I'm curious if there is anything missing in this story. I wonder if the officers realized they had crossed the line and in...

Personally I am torn, on one hand as a union member I hate to see work that has been ours contracted out to cheap labour. On the other hand should an emergency service be transporting patients that require no medical care? What are your thoughts? News Story - watch the video...

Working on a small rural (volunteer) service means we don't often get the trauma you get in the cities, but when we do, it can be just as catastrophic. Went on a call the other morning - roll over on the (gravel) highway - and when we got there I comletely zoned in on the one male occupant who had been ejected from the ...

I was wondering about this and was curious if anyone could explain the thinking behind synchornized cardioversion for v-tach with a pulse, but unsynchronized defibrillation for pulseless v-tach? I know this is the standard of care according to ACLS, I was just curious why we aren't worried about syncing for pulseless. ...

One of the team members from Canada’s 8 men rowing is a local; he was in the ER with his gold medal today and we all got to hold it and shake his hand. I am not a start struck sort of person but I have to say it was pretty cool to actually hold an Olympic gold medal and meet someone that is the best in the world at what he...

I have been an EMT for about 4 years now. I became an intermediate about a year ago. Now I am thinking about going to Paramedic School. My questions are 1. Other then a basic A&P class what other classes should I take in advance to make the Paramedic program it self easier to understand? 2. I live in Connecticut, does ...

Hi All, Could anyone tell me if you have ever undergone a training session/module in American (or other) Sign Language in order to communicate more effectively with deaf patients? If anyone has EMS-specific deaf resources I'd appreciate a copy! Many thanks, John.
