Thinking of going with oars. Paid $75 for the hull, I have about $400 into it, counting everything. I didn't keep track of the hours but thinking back, probably 20-30. It all went pretty smooth.

You and your buddies can't even pile your birds together in the back of the truck for the ride home...every man's birds must be separated. A state warden might give you a pass but a federal warden probably wouldn't. Federal wardens are a bit more "aggressive" here....

Just had a thought....if anyone else in the general vicinity of where this hunt is supposed to take place can come up with a spot we can use it would be really helpful. It would be really nice if we could split the group up into three teams for this. So all you guys with huntin spots start askin around and lets see if we can get another one. Someone besides me and Pump has to have a spot, share the wealth boys. we also need to somehow come up...

I do have a question for those who are advocates for this law and are calling us, the people that pile up birds and shoot limits as a group, lying, unethical outlaws. When a group of ducks, lets say 15-20, decoy and there are 3-5 shooters shooting and a bunch hit the water, your telling me...

I used the stake and a lead to it that was extremely short. It wasn't enough to get him to come back but he had to lay down and be still. The only times that you would want a dog running around your dekes is to make the water move around - it's better to have a jerk string though... Although, when you are goose hunting, running the dog around the dekes to get the attention of distant birds works pretty well. You just have to get...

Wow I don't feel to sorry for you. Since opening day of southern Illinois i've killed three ducks. The weather was in the 70's opening day. I think the ducks have forgotten they can fly south of the U.S. canada border.

Sounds like an outstanding idea. I don't have a spot to offer right now. But I have 6 doz. GHG FB geese, vorious shell and silo geese, 2 doz. FB and 2 doz. shell GHG mallards, and 4 layout blinds in my trailer. Would need to hear a date set and touch base with my control tower before I can be a definite yea/nay. Thanks for coming up with the idea.

correct me if I am wrong but doesn't this also essentially mean that HUEY & the Gang can't hunt there either? If they do they are essentially violating a MAJOR law....baiting wildlife right? This is just one slough guys but I clearly understand what it represents for all of us regarding future PUBLIC hunting opportunities. We need to do everything possible to get around this ordinance. I have a Gold 10 light which serves as my primary goose gun along with my 935 when not being used as a long range duck gun while using one of my SBEII's for decoy shooting ducks. I use mainly 2 3/4" and 3" shells on ducks at moderate ranges but then jump to 3 1/2" shells when I get into 1's and larger just for the added pellet count in the pattern when reaching out. I use this same concept for my...

If you can't find it, you can have some loaded for you if you know someone who reloads. Go to the reloading forum. Those guys know everything about every load. They used to make it. I hunted with a friend that killed a couple of geese with a .410 before but it was 15 or so years ago.
