I'm over the moon with the progress Reagan's made with Emma She's explored the flat, and as they sat watching TV, she came in the room and jumped on the sofa!! They are managing to hand feed her chicken and tuna and the hissing/swiping is easing off aready. I thought it would be at least 3-4 days before she's venture out of hiding, so really thrilled she's feeling confident to explore already. She...

Brushing Dogs Teeth
Published (2009-11-20 11:57:00)
QUOTE(Vera @ 20th Nov 2009, 11:42 am) But it's the abrasive action of the brush that helps surely! Us people don't brush our teeth for 15 minutes (well, I don't for sure) either and it works. I have definitely seen a big difference since I have been brushing my dogs' teeth! One just had a dental two months ago and started getting plaque straight away again, that's all gone and no new...

QUOTE(traceymcl @ 20th Nov 2009, 3:08 pm) I have a male bullmastiff. When he was just under two he was extremely dog aggressive. He nearly killed a small dog - the small dog had to be rushed to the emergency vet to be put back together again. My dog was aggressive toward all dogs he hadn't known as a puppy especially male dogs and all spaniels. First thing was to ensure that proper health and safety measures were taken....

QUOTE(Scotslass @ 20th Nov 2009, 1:53 pm) ( Since I wrote this reply (below), I see you've edited your post. Not sure what you intend by "easy to pick apart", but here's what I answered before I saw it... ) Bad example. You can't just say "quite simply, it isn't (abuse)", as if that were explanation enough. The fact that abuse (let's call it harsh training) in the...

QUOTE(Jack2007 @ 19th Nov 2009, 6:18 pm) the argument is clouded by the "if you're not against CM it's because you have been hypnotised by his teeth" brigade. Not clouded at all. It goes some way to trying to understand why otherwise rational and presumably intelligent people are so taken in by him despite the preponderance of damning evidence and informed opinion against him. Some of us are...

Food Woes

My dogs have grain/gluten free Oscar's petfoods herring and potato. My collie has IBD and is very very sensitive, you really do need to stop any extras. One piece of steak from a well meaning guest caused explosive diaorrhea for my dog... so salami etc could be a real trigger

Has he been tested for any allergies? It's probably worth discussing with the vet to see if they can determine whether there is a particular ingredient he cannot tolerate.

Treacle is a black and tan X breed approximately 11 years old but still very active. Treacle is to be rehomed through no fault of her own. She is small to medium in size and okay with other dogs after slow introduction but likes to be top dog. Treacle is fine with older children and with cats. She travels well for short distances and can be left for up to 5 hours. She is a...

Another chicken convert Most people keep their chickens in a covered run when not able to supervise them free-ranging, esp if you have a small garden as they trash the place! If you cover the run with a tarp or plastic sheeting this helps to keep it dry underfoot in the wet weather. It also helps to prevent them escaping, or foxes getting in. It can keep small birds and cats out too. Not ...

But I would say to vera that waiting around for the handler to catch up, would end the situation more quickly than continuing the walk with a Lab all over your dog. Unless of course, you and your dog/dogs can walk faster than a running labrador. This post has been edited by deano71 : Yesterday, 11:02 am

Do you know what I found most impressive about that episode? In the background while he is dealing with the Aussie sheepdog at one point you can see Daddy and Junior who have been completely forgotten and ignored. While CM is concentrating on his client's dog, they are perfectly behaved and even ignore it when an on lead dog approaches them. That's a couple of well trained dogs.

My greyhound was bred to sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep and then sleep some more But seriously I often wonder the same thing. Especially BCs and most small terriers.
