How Are Your Dogs Doing With The...

We thought we were home and dry and some close neighbour is obviously having BIG bangers - the dogs are heavy/drowsy but are still twitching and flinching at the sounds. God, these people are so bloody inconsiderate.

Walking Two Mad Dogs

I wouldn't work them together until they can walk well, they are going to copy each other's bad habits (have been there). Teach them seperately then bring it together.

I hope he comes home, keep calling for him and maybe check his "haunts" such as under bushes, etc as if the worst has happened, he may be hiding. Lindsay x

Hero Dog Locked Away

I feel very sorry for this poor dog.. But have to say that her handler knew that she would go to quarantine after so why take her? There are surely plenty of search and rescue dogs from Europe who don't need to go into quarantine on their return? Just makes no sense to me..

Training Levels Site
Published (2009-11-07 00:10:00)
QUOTE(jackied @ 5th Nov 2009, 10:49 pm) We have started doing the levels thing but I'm a bit confused about the round the pole command. Twix got the hang of it in one go - but now I'm thinking that if I used it as she describes with the lamp-post dilemma, he'd just plait himself around it. So I think I may have got it muddled up. OK, pole on my right, Twix on my left. He is supposed to go around the pole to get...

Malinois Puppies

That reminds me of the Nina Bondarenko seminar I went to ages ago (she trains Rottweilers as assistance dogs), when she said that with the rottie pups, the trainers pulled them around, pulled their tails, ears and made screechy type noises, to get them to be bombproof as assistance dogs. But maybe not to be recommended with some dogs

Prevention is better than cure. Discourage people getting puppies on a whim at Christmas time, particularly for someone else as a present. Otherwise, if it has worked well, what about encouraging people to sign up for temporary adoption of a dog in kennels, at christmas (I haven't followed how well this has worked either in boosting adoption rates or in helping to socialise and habituate ...

QUOTE(Kay&Stone @ 8th Nov 2009, 10:58 pm) I don't want to go up there again incase I get recognised as being associated with the dog. Anyway, rant over.... thanks for listening to my moan.... I wouldn't worry - for one thing, I've noticed a lot of people will soon associate you with you own dog. I am well-known for being the lady with four dogs at my local park And for another,...

I scattered Chile's ashes along his favorite mountain trail. I would often walk that trail, and feel his spirit with me. It was very comforting. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time, but I have come to regret it. I will have to leave Switzerland sooner or later - which means leaving Chile behind. And now that idea very much bothers me... Taffy and Coley are with me, on a shelf that...

Even though he did know you, he was in your house and not his own, this does make a difference to a dog. He was in another home, different people and dogs, he doesn't know your house rules etc so he will be more reactive than normal. I adore terrierists, they have a lot to give to their owners but they have been bred never to back down no matter how frightened they are. This is what causes ...

Barney would spend his money on an eat-all-you-can buffet style restaurant. Then he would book himself into a spa and have the lovely ladies massage him for hours on end. Pip would buy a toy shop. And then she would go to a dog breeder and buy herself lots of new friends. What would your dogs spend their cash on?

My Christ Chris !! What in God's name is going on at the RSPCA? That they fail to attend because they have too much work on is "almost" understandable, as I can't say I know what any inspector's workload is. But that they can actually investigate and come to such an outrageously absurd and twisted conclusion, and leave animals suffering, sick and emaciated, absolutely beggars belief. ...
