Laurelin_429: I thought cropping was about functionality and preventing attackers from having an ear to grab. Shorter crops are, imo, more functional. They were, originally cropped short to prevent an attacker from having something to grab ahold of. Nowadays, there aren't many dobes who are bred to actually do protection work. :( You will find that most breeders who focus on breeding...

It is an inate desire for a dog to want to lie on the BAD leg (letting them have the good one to get up with and "hide" the vulnerability) You might try some D-mannose to help while she recouperates -- it will help avoid the next infection (and while she's sedentary she's more at risk for that). They love it-- darned stuff tastes just like confectioner's sugar -- but the body doesn't...

I've been researching beezers lately. I LOVE the look of them, but I don't plan to make that the reason to get one. Aside from the literature, do any of you have personal experience with one? Are there any you would feel would be trustworthy around small dogs and cats (big one)? Mostly just building castles in the air, but any input would be appreciated.

WOW. I don't really have any advice, except maybe you could ask them if you could have the dog because you know somewhere he could have a really good home? He's beautiful and looks like a real sweetie.

It truly is sad how uninformed and misguided the general public is regarding pit bulls. Do attacks happen? Of course they do, but then any breed can and has attacked.
Your mention of "nobody knows what they are" reminds me of that online quiz where you look at 25 or so pictures to pick out the Pibble. Even for someone who is relatively dog savvy, it's hard!

Soooo... US post offices are closed tomorrow (Monday) for Columbus Day. Is that going to mess up anyone's plans, or can everyone still get their items out by Thursday? Anyone think we need to extend the deadline to Friday? Lemme know!

Bevo is in the sighthound group at daycare, & there are two beezers in his group. I've became friends with their owner, & gotten to know both dogs pretty well. I love them, but could probably never own one. They are very sweet, & once they have gotten to know me, they are quite personable.
I am not sure that I would be happy with a sighthound. I love being able to let my dogs off leash,...

Many of you know already, that I intend to get a dobe as my next dog. That likely won't be for several years yet, but I'm feeling especially inquiry-ish today. I have an extensive list of things I would tell to anyone thinking of getting a husky, but so far, I haven't found much that might deter me from a Doberman. Once the girls are in school full time, at least 5 years away for Kelci, ...
