Our Skyler
Published (2009-11-04 13:28:00)
Skyler looks like a little piggy at 4 months old! I love young pups hehe they always look so squishy and chubby. Better keep a close watch on him or maybe he'll disappear and I'll magically have a new Aussie pup! Chloe is beautiful too! So white and fluffy!

Spreading fleas?
Published (2009-11-03 23:02:00)
I would think yes they could be carried home (via eggs, etc) and hatch or be at your house. I would continue to wash your clothes when you get home for sure though.

Crate issue question
Published (2009-11-03 20:45:00)
We don't use any bedding in the crate. I hate to see any dog left over 4-5 hours. If you can't make it back for a mid day break, maybe a neighbor or professional dog walker could. When he is a little older, you couldlook for a doggy day care.

The case of the missing ear...
Published (2009-11-04 13:19:00)
After looking at some old pics of Basil from a few months ago, all I have to say is... What happened? Lol! Basil used to have a lot more ear fringes than he does now. It's quite baffling. I don't think I'm doing anything different. He was still going to dog parks and playing with other dogs back then, but he's never really ever played rough with any other dogs. Now that I think about it, back when we lived in Fort Worth my...

Sad story and Q: strychnine?
Published (2009-11-03 21:16:00)
Very sorry to hear of the loss, that's a terrible way to have it go. The only way you are going to get a good answer is to have your vet preform a necropsy. There are plenty of things that can be speculated, but unless this is done it will be impossible to say what happened and even then it could prove to be of no help.

The joys of home ownership
Published (2009-11-03 11:50:00)
Yeah Spicy1... traditional colonial but what could you expect being built in 1850... It's solid tho... you go into the basement with it's 9 foot celings and you can see the main beam that runs the entire length of the house is ALL 1 PIECE of wood plus the entire foundation is all field stone not cinderblocks... Man craftsmanship was all that back in the day... I would NEVER buy a new built house...

Nia is constantly bringing a ball and dropping it very loudly in front of my face to get me to throw it. If I don't she'll pick it up again and drop it and again and again and again.
Does that count?
Oh another thing she does..is tear paper. She tears paper every single day I think.

All dogs are being bred away from what they started out as. Rottweilers use to have smaller (though still large) heads and didn't have stumps for a face like they do now. If you look up stuff about the breed years ago you can find stuff about that. I think breeders need to start worrying (and most breeders do) about the animals health. And start breeding the they way they are ment to look, not ...

I have a nikon D60 with two kit lenses that are both just the standard Nikkor ones you get with a new D60, then a Tamron macro lens - AF 28-75mm F/2,8 XR Di LD Aspherical.
The benefits of the Nikkor 200 mm is the zoom. It's good for action shots outside in the bright sun but it kind of sucks in low light, aperture is just too small. The zoom helps though with tiny dogs and getting them to ...

I dunno, I don't think I've spent enough time with nearly enough breeds to make a descision. As far as personality goes, I'm pretty sure it's at least somewhat individual, so a breed that isn't supposed to have a certain personality will still have individuals that are completely opposite.
As for physical aspects, because that's the only thing I can really judge, I can say I don't like ...

No you are not wrong. She SHOULD have corralled her dog and apologized. Does your dog park have an association or marshall? If so I would speak to them, not "complain" perse but ask what is the appropriate way to deal with this situation and if there are rules about behaviour at the park.
My dog Cracker occasionally bullies a specific labrador that frequents our park. When Cinnamon arrives,...

Ya, you may want to review older threads on breeding before jumping into this fire. Mixed breeding is a VERY touchy subject, and in the way that you asked it, you are not ready to breed your dog, period. The recommendation would be to have her spayed if that is your choice, now. There is much to learn about breeding dogs, and, asking questions is a great start. However, you need to consider,...

Oh, two other things.
1) my bird, Pheonix, is flighted and presently rules the home. I know she'd get used to a dog, and I'd watch them very very closely for the first couple weeks to make sure they'd get along or keep them apart as needed. Suggestions in all of this? What should I watch out for in the dog not liking the bird? How to I get a dog used to a bird that flys, without an interest ...

Christine - she is gorgeous! Stunning. Lucky for you they couldn't take her with them. How is Shauni with her? What no pictures of Shauni too?
I'm terrible at names, I also like people's names for dogs...so personal preference. I wanted to call Cartman... Robert, but lost that battle.

Wow, what an idiot! Makes me glad I passed on the Petsmart lessons XD Their trainers constantly get on my nerves. One time there was a trainer with a yellow lab, and both the lab and Basil reacted towards each other and started barking. I got Basil's attention with some kibble and had him sit and focus on me, and do some tricks. The trainer, however proceded to yell "LEAVE IT!!!" at the dog, and...
