Published (2009-11-13 11:36:00)
Hi, There is a type of thyroiditis known as Subacute thyroiditis (also some call it 'De Quervain's thyroiditis') which is thought to be due to a viral cause. Most patients give a history of a upper respiratory infection 2-8 weeks prior to the onset of thyroiditis. Therefore, many cases tend to occur during summer months. A few cases have been reported due to the mumps virus. High titers of mumps antibodies may be found in some...

Hello,As far as I know there are no contra indication to megaloblastic anaemia taking Dicorate500.Non meat sources of B12 would include milk, dairy products, yeast extract, breakfast cereals, and soya milk and cheese which you can add to your diet.I am not aware of food interactions to the drug except alcohol. The tablet is to be taken with food unless instructed otherwise by your physician.Do not miss your dose too.Ok?

Hello, I suspect this is just your body's hormonal adjustment following the miscarriage and this can take a few weeks. I would not worry or run to the doctor but give yourself time to heal and get back on a normal schedule. If that doesn't happen, you can see your doctor but I suspect patience is the answer here so continue with the recommendations of your health care provider and the medications as prescribed. Best wishes.

pain under arm, upper back
Published (2009-11-13 23:56:00)
Hello -- What you describe doesn't sound as though it is heart-related, but I'm not certain where you guess your heart to be located and a lot of people mistakenly believe it is on the left side of the chest, near or just below the breast. It's actually in the center of the chest. The pain you describe also sounds peculiar in that it seems to start in the back, move down your arm, then come back toward the heart, which is a very...

Butterfly Rash

Hello sprank75, You certainly have a complicated range of symptoms, and may have more than one diagnosis. On top of all the physical issues, your anxiety and possible anger at the perceived lack of support from your doctor only intensifies the symptoms. You didn't mention your doctor's specialty or the availability of getting a second opinion. First start to keep a record of your symptoms, giving the date and time they occur. Next,...

Plantar Digital Nerves injury
Published (2009-11-05 22:53:00)
Hello, Because the barefeet are unsupported, the arch and forefoot spreads on weight bearing. Some people have no problem with walking or running barefoot due to their intrinsically well supported arch however others may suffer various types of foot and leg pain when on their barefeet too long. This must be the case with you. I would switch to walking in either supportive shoes or sandals. Birkenstock makes nice sandals and do well worn...

Moderate Mitral Regurgitation?
Published (2009-11-08 03:08:00)
I am a 24 year old male, about 160lbs, 5'11, in excellent "running shape." About 10 months ago I started having unexplained, intermittent high blood pressure (it was high, once, at the store or something when I randomly decided to check it on one of those machines. After that, every doctor's appointment revealed high blood pressure.). Most doctors were not at all concerned with it. I attended a police academy and...

Flutters in chest
Published (2009-11-08 11:08:00)
I have been getting a feeling of short flutters (as fast as an electric shock ) in my chest, around the breast bone and in the centre of the chest. It can occur over and over again for maybe 10 minutes at a time all throughout the day and during the night too. It's been happening for the last 3 days. At the same time I have had an uncomfortable feeling that my throat and airways are too open and it's far too easy to breath! Is this...

I've had a problem with a stiff neck for over 4 months now. At first I thought it was the office chair not being ergonomic but realized that have been feeling a bump at base of my neck for a while now. Never seems to go away even after professional massage and is very painful to touch. Over last one month, have been having intensive headaches and notice slight dizziness and nausea . Am unable to lift heavy weights or do arm or shoulder...

Hello missiongr, Just to expand on Dr. Kamath's information, I suggest that you get a notebook and keep a record, writing down each time you masturbate, including the date and any of the symptoms that you have described when they occur. Be conscientious in doing this and take the record with you to see both a psychiatrist and a urologist. Your symptoms may be psychological in origin, but there...

Hi, Sounds very much like "Acute Dacryocystitis".This is due to an acute inflammation of the lacrimal sac. Dacryocystitis has long been noted to occur more frequently on the left side than on the right side (although in your case the right side is affected). It can be due a number of causes-- such as, bacterial infections, viral infections, fungal infections, some lacrimal sac tumors, certain ...

Hello,Many people when they reach adulthood would have developed antibodies to HSV1. you would not transmit to those already infected. The phase when the viral shedding is maximum is when there is an active cold sore.It would be prudent there fore to be most careful during flare ups.It would be practical there to limit usage to your self, the wind instruments.Ok?

Hi, To the best of my knowledge, there is no condition which exclusively affects one side of the body. I am glad that the lymph node biopsy came back 'benign'. However, as you seem to be developing recurrent lymph nodal enlargement, it is better that you keep in touch with your doctor and a repeat biopsy may be indicated if this situation should continue. Good luck!

Hello,You have probably an irrtitant reaction and nothing else. You have no history of exposure to STDs and a minor trauma to the mucosa is enough to trigger an inflammatory response.Best not to irritate further and you can apply a little vaseline. It should settle with this but if presists do see a doctor.

Let be begin by giving you a short explanation of what is meant by Hypertrichosis (excessive hairs on the body). This can be... - generalised or - localized. The localized forms may be either - Congenital Localized Hypertrichosis or - Acquired Localized Hypertrichosis. I will list some of the known ...

Hi there -- Your echo report came out beautiful. The term "moderate" mitral regurge is such a common notation as to mean very little, and currently nothing is being affected by this. You sound very much like a typical anxious patient, which is just what some of us are dealt as a hand in life, but it can be managed. Often the anxious patient does have a less-than- textbook-perfect exam and ...
