> I have been to lots of very good tropical dive sites, some with better diving than PG that is true. PG, however, offers a totally dive focused energy i've not found elsewhere, it just lives and breathes diving. I have dived here many times with lots of european family groups. They were all having a ball and so was I. The bar scene there is all behind closed doors, or in the middle of the bay on floating rafts. In my experience there...

I wish to thank Daniel and Per along with Prof Bennet (I think it was him?) as well as the Chamber Technicians - it made my week. What tops it off is the fact that I am currently reading "Explorations: an autobiography" by Robert D. Ballard and for a moment there, away from when Daniel required me, I was...

> That may be, but you could just as easily change the dimensions and leave the DPI at 300 (or any other number for that matter) and the end result is the same. Knowing that people will almost certainly "steal" your images, if you decide to post images online, your only real options are: * Smaller images (i.e. less horizontal and vertical pixels) * Less quality (more JPEG compression) * Prominent watermarks The first two are...

Port Philip Bay water temp
Published (2009-11-10 22:08:00)
> Its probable the divers reporting high teen temps are shore divers, and the ones saying 14-15 deg are boat divers. We snorkeled Lonsdale reef today and Mary was in a 3mm for over 4 hours, and never got cold! If you are diving the deep reefs or wrecks, stick to your drysuit for another month. If you are diving shallow sites go for the summer suit, and if you are diving with Sharks, don't rub up against him, he's so tough...

Long bay - Sydney
Published (2009-11-09 13:35:00)
> Hmmm So so on the fish life.. Fish life has decreased dramatically since they closed the sewer outfall about 200 metres away from where you were on the Point of Long Bay. The Picturesque "Yellow Rock" above the sewer out fall site was one of the prime rock fishing spots since Adam was a boy. To such an extent that the gutters off Yellow rock in places are up to a metre wide and who knows how deep and full of lead weights and...

Hi Bruce, I wouldn't give too much weight to common names, although they can be a useful point of reference they can be very misleading. Even as a lay-person I have always tried to learn the scientific nomenclature as it is far more consistent but even these can be hotly disputed between experts. Morphology between species and even within species can be highly ...

obviously you have to be a commercial diver with the relevant insurances and so forth. Marinas will not let you work on thier premises otherwise. I would carry redudant air supply, good wire cutters and a shark shield. The ammount of food scraps that get discarded overboard in marinas is amazing. You would also wasnt to know your drills backwards and be able to ...

Yep ... I have an issue with this. No scooters on my boat unless you pay for an extra fare, this means if I have 8 seats available and you and your scooter takes up two of those seats, then you pay for two seats. If I didn't have your scooter on board then I would have another paying customer. They basically take up deck space and are a pain to handle unless the ...

For straight ingots i just make up a mould out of wood, wet it first and pour carefully, can splatter, they last long enough and i can change the shape easily, channel weights and big ingots for my old weight integrated BC.

Listed as the greatest loss of Australian lives in a maritime incident, this vessel left Rabual in 1942 with over 1000 Aussi pow's , bound for Japan. Later in the voyage she was sunk by an American sub. There were no Australian survivors Nov 11th 7.30pm, the history channel tells her story. Should be an interesting one

A lot of photo comps that I see in magazines have these terms as well and it also makes you wonder if it is also a cheap and easy way for them to stock up on stock photos for their magazines. A part from the fact that I take dodgy photos at the best of times it's one of the reason I don't enter into comps. Karl

This is an awesome opportunity for entry level divers to experience mild narcosis in the safety of a chamber. If you have the time, sign up for this one, its well worth the effort and many of you will be quite suprised how slow your reactions are.

I'm planning to get a set of regs for myself in the next couple of months, but decided to get opinions and read as many reviews before i make my final decision. I'm currently deciding between these 2 regs: 1. Scubapro - MK25/S600 2. MARES - Proton 42 Metal She Dives I usually dive around QLD and NSW on an occasional basis, i'm very petite in size (if that helps...
