Hi, This can't be set to happen automatically in IE8. After opening IE you will have to go to Tools (on the Command Bar) and select "Reopen last browsing session." 1. Start Internet Explorer without add-ons by right-clicking the IE icon on
the desktop. Choose Start without add-ons.

from Start> Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no
add-ons)
If the problem goes away, you have an incompatible browser add-on installed.

NB: I would strongly recommend doing a clean install of AVG Free v9.0 (not
an upgrade), opting for a CUSTOM install and do NOT install Linkscanner,
Search-Shield, Active Surf-Shield, Security toolbar (especially if you're
running IE7 or IE8) or any of the email scanning components.

This problem annoys me often. IE still behaves this way with IE 8, or in my case the focus jumps from the search box after a few characters and into the address input. I do not have any add ons installed. This is the main reason I use Chrome as much as I can instead of IE.
