And adding Vazquez's salary has now made Damon coming back pretty much done for. If they just ate up $9 million more for him and the Yankees were having issues with payroll....you can completely forget Damon's wishes of $13 mil.

Tigers Interested in Podsednik

This is a reminder that I have placed you "on ignore' in early November for good reason. I have wisely chosen not to read your threads and/or replies. You may continue to respond to my posts - for I cannot stop you from this practice. Just keep in mind that your participation here will never be read by me. So in every thread where you do direct a reply towards me, I will continue to post this whenever I see a ... "To...

I think it is possible as the "second tier" of the pitching free agent/trade market shakes out there is still hope to trade Nate... I feel that there could be some desperate NL team that might take a one year flyer on a left handed pitcher...for a couple of reasons. 1) they could possibly milk us for a prospect of 2 to get them to take him... 2) if for some reason does ok in the NL, they can trade Nate at the deadline and...

For the kind of money Damon wants, or thereabouts, the Yankees could get twice the player in Matt Holliday or Jason Bay.

Agree. I would rather roll the dice on a AAA player than pay that for that.

That's strange. Is there a button that says "others" (next to the name you are replying to)? You could always click on that and type in "all."

You are probably right. But what I would offer would be to pick up the differential in salaries so there was no $ impact to either team. Maggs is a bigger name and a bigger draw which Lerner might be interested in. My feelings about Magg"s defensive skills are not shared by some. He does have a good glove and a reasonably good arm. He hit for a much better average than Dunn last year, I believe, though I didn't check. He surely...

Padres acquire Dusty Ryan
Published (2009-12-22 18:19:00)
I'm glad to see Dusty traded, if nothing else it was good sportsmanship on the Tigers end for realizing he more than likely didn't have a future here in Detroit... and allowing him to compete for a spot on another team before he gets to old and isn't considered a "prospect" anymore.

A better Marcus Thames option to DH, except the Tigers already have a myriad of DH candidates as it is. Too many DH types never stopped the Tigers though, sign up Cust.

As soon as you click the 'reply' on someone's post, right above where you are typing the response (like Iam doing now) there is a pulldown menu with the name of the poster you are replying to. Hit that pulldown menu and the top 'name' to choose is "ALL."

So Dusty Ryan goes from being touted by many as the Tigers catcher of the future after the 2008 season to being traded for a PTBNL after the 2009 season. How quickly things change.

tigers have expressed interest to stretch out phil coke who has been a starter in the yankees system before he got called up. right now i think verlander porcello scherzer and bonderman are set the rest of the bunch battles for the final slot. robertson or coke are frontrunners if you ask me which doesn`t represent my own opinion

If the Tigers' front office is interested in Podsednik, they're even dumber than I thought. In the five seasons 2004-2008, the wimp's OPS was in the 600s four times, and the other year he managed exactly .700. Last year he pumped it up to .764, which is still lousy, but given his age and the previous five years still has to be regarded as a fluke. This is an outfielder who hits like Adam ...

He's going to get a look as a LF and DH more than likely. Unless for some reason the Tigers trade Cabrera. He hasn't had much time in the outfield, so i'm pretty sure they are going to want him to play a full season in the minors as an outfielder. I'd expect him to be in the big leagues by September, and to start the 2011 season on the 25 man roster. There is also a good chance we'll try...

Podsednik is not the piece that will make the Tigers more competetive and may delay the progress of Jackson/Wells/Ramirez. If he is still around late.....maybe, but I am more inclined to hand the job to Jackson to lose, and have him get some ML experience before we have more room to move in '11.

Are you a potential saboteur? Jason hit .193 for Oakland (better at Col. but not many ABs) Crisp hit .201 for KC. Hey, we got better AAAs than that.

Don't think the Tigers are in a position to get him right now. Promising, but unproven and far too expensive.
