p220 thin grips

I can not speak to the thin grips on a P220, but I can on a 1911, both Commander size and Officer size. I put thin grips on all of my 1911 handguns. It does make a difference to me for concealment, feel of the grip and operating the magazine release. As always, YMMV. lost out out on the p220 west german 9mm...someone else bought it. I lusted after it...but couldnt afford $700. Oh well. anyway...I've been debating about getting the p220 thin grips for my p220 carry. Does it really make that much of a difference when you carry? Thanks

I can not speak to the thin grips on a P220, but I can on a 1911, both Commander
size and Officer size. I put thin grips on all of my 1911 handguns. It does
make a difference to me for concealment, feel of the grip and operating the

I've carried the full size P220 (not the "carry" model) CCW. It does
fine in a good holster (I have a Milt Sparks VM II) and conceals a
bit easier than a 226/228. I do tend however to prefer a single
action (lightweight 4" 1911) or a 3" 5 shot .357 for CCW. The .357
conceals very easily, shoots easily and I don't even notice that I
have it with me.

I thought the P228 was out of production and replaced with the 229?
Or did they bring it back with the "R"?

Two questions:
1. Does it have the European magazine release?
2. Is it worth it to you?
It does sound high but what else have you found? The proofmarks indicate it
was tested at a German proofhouse to higher pressures than the American
guns; IF they even proof guns in America.

I saw a P228R at a gun show in Pasadena TX (near Houston) a few weeks ago. The
price was in the $700 - $800 range. I don't remember exactly, but I think it
was in the low $700's.
The gun shows in the Houston, TX area probably have the lowest prices of
anywhere in the country. Texas is a gun friendly state and the dealers here do
a lot of volume.

First, do you need/want a new/different gun or just a Sig that can shoot 9mm
too? My answer was to purchase a Barsto 9mm barrel for my 229 40/357sig.
Now I carry with the 40cal barrel and practice with the cheap 9mm ammo.
BTW - You don't need to change anything on the 229, but the barrel.
