Woman Alleges Insurance Cut Off...
Published (2009-11-21 14:55:00)
The press is making it out that a woman's Facebook pictures have caused her disability insurance provider to cancel her benefits. I find it difficult to believe that an insurance provider would base a decision of that magnitude on so flimsy a pretext, so take it all with a grain of salt. I'm reasonably certain that we are not getting the complete story here... Quote: Manulife wouldn't comment on Blanchard's case, but in a...

I would rather have the file quarantined. That way it can be recovered intact. If an AV program gets a false positive on a file and modifies it, the results can be unrecoverable and often disastrous. I've seen a few instances where systems were made unbootable by AV software.

Timer for Electric HW Tank -...
Published (2009-11-20 20:30:00)
The discharge may not be hot enough to use for DHW. If there's an existing heatpump loop in the building, you can put in a water cooled a/c or heatpump with what's called a de-superheater. A de-superheater transfers excess heat from the hot refrigerant (discharged by the compressor, upstream of the condenser) to water. That setup requires a storage tank and pump.

BF: Bad Company 2 mp beta Nov. 19

It's pretty good, but obviously an early build. Lots of aliasing, bland colours (even worse than cod4) and I don't like not having the ability to go prone. Since this is a beta, I will be mentioning these things and hopefully they are some of the things that get resolved. Going to this from many, MANY hours of cod type gameplay was quite a switch. This is BIG war. Armed vehicles, tanks, armed uav's, ground mounted missile...

That's less than I do and I haven't come even close to 500M.
Where you really chew up the bits are streaming music/video.

If you only want the analogue channels, then you could connect the coax directly to an NTSC tuner in the PC. If you want digital/HD, then you need the STB and appropriate connections to the HTPC and appropriate devices/software in your HTPC. Are you trying to record HD?

It could be the IR interference issue discussed in the following post:
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=6 4463
You may wish to programme the remote to control the TV volume instead of the STB volume, as discussed in the following post - it's for SA but the gist should apply to any remote that can be programmed in this way:

You can do a clean install with win 7, same as with vista or a easier way:

I'm not sure how a dual boot system would work... I'd recommend using the free version of Macrium Reflect to image your current OS partition and you can just reload it if you want.
As I understand it if your upgrading from XP you can only do a clean ...

Do you think a "N" router would help?
No. The fact that it works in one configuration and not others suggests its a setup issue, not a hardware issue.

Two modems means you would have to pay for two separate accounts. Doable, but a waste of money. It is much more likely that you just have to forward the correct ports on your router to the PS3

Just picked up the PS3 last week, so I'm wondering what would be some really good BD movies to get that showcase bluray? I'm getting Hellboy cause I like that movie and it's apparently a good disc, plus sending away for those 5 free movies, but what else is there's good? I've got an HD-DVD as well (360) so preferably stuff that's exclusive to BD, or if the BD version is better than HD-DVD, ...

I was just watching CBC News Network and had to stop. They had the president of CTV Globemedia crying a river. He tries to be seen as a victim of cable.
Here in the Maritimes, we don't have the luxury of having 100's of OTA channels. If we want to watch stuff, we either have to go with cable or satellite. One of his arguments was truly pathetic. He mentions that he doesn't want us, the cable ...

jeffc,
You haven't given us much to go on but I'd recommend a Panasonic. I've had one for 4 years (paid 4200 ) and I love it. Beats any LCD out there in my opinion. One of the 2 big box electronics stores has several on sale for under your 1500. You can even get a 1080p for under 1500 right now.

Thank you for the link. Very interesting numbers. One must be very careful with these numbers since these are for electricity and not energy consumption.
For example, I was putting in countries and not seeing any surprises - for example most of the European countries and Japan were using about 1/2 what we use in N/A, however, then I put in Norway. They must use a lot of electricity for ...

Sorry, moving out is really your only option. I had a friend who moved out of a Town home due to similar neighbor issues. You just don't have any control over who lives beside you, and if you keep complaining, the neighbor is just as likely to get her back up against the wall (sorta speak) and make it worse.

I have to disagree. Just look at all the cheap catalog titles lately (many titles are $9.99) and look at what Disney has done with several classics already (Snow While, Pinocchio etc).
On a personal level, my parents who are very non-techie just purchased a bluray player for themselves for Xmas. To me, this signals adoption of the technology outside of the geekdom.
