Which TV you can buy? Perhaps you could provide us with your location and exactly what information you're after. The History Channel is old news. ;-) Actually, since I'm already paying to receive it and others, such as National Geographic, I don't like having to pay twice just to get it in HD. Some of the other HD cable channels are included in the SD price. The Learning Channel comes to mind, as does APTN. Also, I'd like to see NASA in HD.

If you're buying them new, they should be v6. New or old, however, Paradigm speakers have a sticker on the back ( such as this one ) that lists the model #, the version # and the serial #.

Win7 is faster than Vista (and maybe XP) so that might be worth trying. Win7 does require more memory and disk space though. Installing Linux from USB flash drive is a good option. That's not the same as running Linux from a USB flash drive, which is what I thought you were referring to. Installing Linux from a "live" USB flash drive is well documented on the net. I've also had good success with installing from an...

Oil prices are highly volatile, but at the present time electricity is probably more expensive than oil once all charges are taken into consideration. Right now electricity is around $0.10 per kwh (The 5.7 figure only constitutes half the bill), give or take a cent depending on your utility. *I'll look it up later* However, the life of a heating system is 20-25 years so making a decision based on today's prices doesn't make much...

Some people like older movies and many of them are actually shown in HD or WS during the afternoon or evening. There's a thread on this somewhere in this forum.
Quite frankly there are lots of stations out there that many people don't watch and they're not a waste of bandwidth because other people do watch them. I only watch about 5% of the channels that I receive, but that doesn't make ...

Mmm.. No G.A.N.T. theme.. style over substance, I suppose.
Hopefully there'll be some kind of clear, well laid out theme that takes advantage of HDTV resolution.

The warranty on my own Videotron 8300HD is about to expire and am thinking about upgrading the internal hard disk (as it appears to be less of a hassle than the external hard disk). This thread has a lot of info but am wondering if there has been a maximum size determined. Is it 500GB? Can we put a bigger one? Is WD the best brand (since this is what's in my 8300HD)? Is there a series/model...

I just dealt with this at my father in laws last night. Pixelation from channels 27 to 46. Very likely it is your splitter. For me it was the surge protector that was between the coax from the wall and his DCT6200. I hooked the coax coming from the wall directly to the 6200 and the picture cleared right up.
hope this help...

Kro,
I sent an email to Tin Lee but the price is a bit steep (20$+ more expensive than the UT-2700 from summit source and summit source includes shipping).
In any event, it might be better to get a tunable filter rather than a fixed one.
However, I read on another forum that specialized equipment is needed to properly tune the UT-2700.
How difficult was it for you to fine tune the ut...

You cannot do what you want. Watch the recordings on the rental, then return it, while recording new stuff to the new unit. Thread moved to appropriate forum.
You could transfer your existing recordings (in SD) to a DVD recorder or HTPC, or in HD to the Hauppauge HD PVR (HTPC application).

Considering how much this has been discussed on the forums, I think a lot of people are taking the approach of "we'll believe it when we see it."
Shaw Direct has been promising this firmware update for years -- instead, all we've gotten is a firmware "update" that broke HDMI connectivity for a lot of users and added so-called copy protection (CGMS-A).

The spirit of the upgrade license is that you've already paid once for the OEM version that came with your PC. Now you're paying a second time for the same computer to upgrade that to a newer version. I think that's pretty obvious and anyone who things they can just buy an upgrade license for a non-licensed machine is basically just a crook. Or a complete moron.
The EULA quote in the ...

I've only been using BEV for about a month now and it's been great so far.
My question is for those who have been subscribing for years; how often are
new channels added to the lineup? If channels are added, do you need to pay
extra if the channel is added to a theme you're already subscribing to?

My meter was installed a while ago as have many others. I can't wait for them to implement the programme. I was on the Toronto Hydro PowerShift programme for many years and the savings for us were very significant, since we shifted power use to off-peak for most of our major energy users - dishwasher, dryer, etc. We managed to shift about 75% of our usage to off-peak.
I think that once the ...

He had no right to remove your own property. Imagine taking your car into the dealer for warranty repair and they give you a beat up loaner in its place. Even if it had been a rental, I don't think I'd want receive one that's been bouncing around in the truck.

There's nothing a Mac can do that a PC can't. If you're looking to spend a couple of hundred bucks more for the same hardware in an aluminum case, go for a Mac. If you enjoy playing games, downloading a wealth of freeware and shareware programs to try out, have a just about unlimited choice in software, and a new Windows 7 to enjoy, go for a PC.

So this new firmware should support a larger internal drive? That's even better than external! Are there drive compatibility lists, or should any SATA drive work?

This thread is strictly for discussing how to upgrade an INTERNAL drive for Shaw PVR with firmware 16.74
