Possible fuel restriction in the FPR? Is the filter clean? How about the little screen between the FPR and the fuel bowl? Could be a weak lift pump. What pressure readings are you getting from the fuel pressure gauge? Did you leave the fuel pressure gauge attached and read pressure while it was idling to see if it just drops off all the sudden or gradually? Is there an extended period you have to wait in order to get it to start again or can...

You have to be sure you select "Powerstroke" in the vehicle setup. I assume you got the Ford Enhanced package and activated it. (I believe you have to send an e-mail to AutoEnginuity, and input the numbers they e-mail back to you). Your problem sounds like a fuel starvation issue. Check to make sure you can get a good stream out of the filter drain when you turn the key to on to activate the fuel pump. You should hear the...

if your egt's are running consistantly at max temp, then the cooler will
help. 50* is about the difference you will see. that can be big deal while
pulling trailers in the hills. i personally spent the big money and got an
after market. i bought the diesel innovations. why gamble? pulling warped
exhaust manifolds is not a fun job, i speak from experience.

Well, at least you have self confidence. But anyone that works on antique engines has to have a screw or two missing.
And if your topic is hot-rodding a 7.3L IDI, you posted in the wrong forum. But if your topic is throwing rocks at my HEUI injectors, then I guess you're in the right forum.

okay so I have done soom driving with the gauge installed and here is what I have.500 psi any time its Idleing. Can get a max psi of 2800 psi when at full throttle. Thats with the chip and without it. I tried it both ways. Without it it spikes right to 2800 psi. With the chip it spikes to 2500 then slowly climbs to 2800 maybe 2900. These where all short romps on a back street. I have not hit the...

By the way reason I am asking is mine is grinding the flywheel it sounds
like. I think the solenoid is bad but I want to replace everything.
Flywheel is ok, but starter gear looks really worn. It also cranks somewhat
slow so I am getting new batteries as well as mine are over 6 years old.

Can we ask why you are wanting to do that removal. I'm not aware of a any major wire connector to disconnect the fuse box only...... but then I have not had to.
Like most Ford connection wires they can be released from the connector (fuse box) and replaced by inserting a new wire/end and soldering the wire together.

Welcome to TheDieselStop
I'd suspect bad cables where that corroded post was. I don't know of anything like that on the fenderwell, except maybe the starter relay. If the post and connections were corroded, then the wire beneath the insulation may have also turned into green goo.
Sparks between your plow and frame sure points to a ground problem.
Good Luck tracking it down. Seems ...

The second picture looks kind of like an injector tip to me. I have seen one embedding in a piston before. But if that were the case, the injector in that cylinder should be missing it's tip..
The wire, I have no ideas on.
What is Ford saying you did to cause this? If the truck is truly stock, I would make them put their reasons for denial in writing and then go up the food chain.

Have they told you that they are not going to fix it??? Are they blaming it
on you? I think that when an engine blows up under warranty they really
investigate it before replacing it. I have a 04 550 that I use as a wrecker
it has 250k with relatively minor problems.

Did you make sure the little shaft was in the bottom of the fuel pump when
you installed it? It may need to reprime itself. Check the fuel bowl again
and make sure it is full.

From what I know the causes of a no start are low oil, hpop leak, bad ficm,
and 1 or more injectors that are bad. It should runn very rough with just
one bad injector. If you can look at the oil level. If it is low or close
add a quart. Then if that dosent fix it start looking at the high pressure
oil system for a leak. You have to have 500psi to fire the injectors. On
the ficm watch the voltage ...

You are low on coolant, too much water. When you refilled, you should have put in 3.5 gallons of coolant in(14 quarts), which is half of your coolant capacity. Then you would be at 50/50.

If you unplug it, while the truck is off, then the EGR will stay closed.
That said (so that this post doesn't get deleted), if you do that you're breaking the law.
