Dodorizzi, That's the correct way. I was checking to see if you might have been using sleep, hibernate. I had an old HP that didn't like hibernate, so I disabled it. How long is your USB Cable. 6ft or smaller? Did you try a different USB Port? The know issues I have are for something with A<MD and Nivida Try turning off the UAC feature, just as an experiment to see if you...

Hi, trn1951: Are you referring to e-mail attachments? Are you trying to open them directly from your e-mail program? Try saving the attachment to a folder on your hard drive and open from there.

Philip, The reason I suspect the video card in this case is that the system BIOS and OS typically allocate memory addresses to core hardware components before allocating addresses to RAM, and the BIOS specifically allocates additional system memory to expansion video cards when present (see this thread and this thread for examples of what I'm talking about). So it seems likely that the additional memory...

You need the original Dell order number so Dell can check to see if there is any warranty to transfer.

You do not connect a router to a phone Jack. Actually I am a bit surprised that you even were able to as the jacks are not the same size. The router must be connected to a modem either a cabel modem or a DSl modem.
Wireless router while they do opterate in teh 2.4 to 5 gig bands are not the same as wireless phones.

unplug your current drive from the SATA 0 port and plug the new drive into the SATA 0 port.
With your win 7 disk in the optical drive, boot the system. At the Dell splash screen press the F12 key to bring up the boot menu. Select the option to boot from the Optical. press enter then any key.
Proceed with the install..

There have been a number of people in you same possition that stood their ground and ended up with the Alienware systems. You just need to fight it. Try using the link at the very bottom of the page for Unresolved Issues.

For all issues before 21 days have elapsed since you received the laptop, you should immediately call Dell Support and have your issue resolved. In your case you may want the touch fascia replaced and/or the PCB under it replaced. This is the time period for which you may return your laptop for ANY reason for a full refund; don't settle for anything less than a fully functional product!

I ordered my laptop XPS 1645 on 10/01 and the estimated delivery date
is scheduled for 11/04. I honestly think this is unacceptable. Two to three weeks would be somewhat ok but 5 weeks is a little bit over the top. I ordered the
system the way it was advertised on the website, with only one change to it... red as my color choice.
The answer I had received when I asked if it could be expedited...

Chris,
We never did get an answer in the old forum about if/when Dell is going to give us a faster BIOS for the XPS 730. BIOS 1.05 is terribly slow, as I am sure you know. What news?

I ordered my studio xps 8000 on 10/11 and the original est. delivery date was 10/26. This was delayed to 11/2 and then again to 11/9.
I called customer support and they were really unhelpful, just said the expected lines and would not upgrade my shipping. I noticed the xps 8000 at all my area Best Buys. I guess they are busy building for them and all of us internet orders are paying for it...

I had a similar problem on my E4300, turned off virtualiztion in the BIOS and all is well. Not sure if that's an option on the Studio or not. That said, this is workaround not a fix.

Hi there ~
My one and only concern is static in the headphone jack on top of the machine. It's not a *dire* concern, because I do have alternatives available, but I was wondering if anyone had found a fix for it.
Thanks for starting a new thread, Jon. Good to "see" you again.
