Yep. Happy New Year, all. I'm off for an Indian meal (my mother's baby sitting) and then back for a bottle of Jim's favourite Tesco Australian red (£3.99). Then it's Jools Holland and a glass of bubbly. Hostilities may be resumed next year.

1,000lb bomb attack foiled in Newry
Published (2009-12-31 22:51:50)
Those responsible for the delivery must have got scared by cop activity and abandoned their cargo. Cops were on the ball immediately and closed the roads from 10pm (approx) on Wednesday. Experts took some time to ensure the safety of the public and thanked all for being patient until it was considered safe to open the highway. Well done to the security forces for breaking up this bomb plot. Great work.

The rason given by the police regarding the returning of this particular line of enquiry was based on resources. Investigatin a series of linked historical murders is a slow detailed record intensive operation that need a substantial team to carry it out. Nothing to do with Patsworld.

He's just being well mannered. Unionists are like that. Insulting Mr Cowen's personal appearance, Rev Paisley described him as a strange character from Dublin and said he had no right to have a say in the internal affairs of Northern Ireland. http://archives.tcm.ie/irishexaminer/2003/04/30/story171322356.asp

The man you claim was The Governor of Northern Ireland. Again, you demonstrate an inability to read and comprehend the English language. You are badly in need of an education. You need to distinguish between proper nouns and common nouns. I referred to Kitson as the Brit "governor" of northern Ireland. The common noun was used a description of his powers, not his title. The British army was in control of the north at the...

Would this add anything to the argument by many in Northern Ireland that
the Irish state was indeed ran by the Roman Catholic Church?

If there was any evidence to bring about prosecutions it would have happened already. The fact that the HET has handed this case back means they
can't proceed further and there is no point wasting their limited resources on cases they can't bring a result to.

"Talking to Irish people is a confusing if usually diverting pursuit. Some speak of Irish unity but do not believe it is attainable, others talk about
it and believe it is. Some will say that the only solution is for the British to withdraw, with or without an advanced date; others throw up their hands in
horror at the merest hint we might go."
Nothing new there...

Jimboy,
If there is one thing that republicans do well it is censorship. They've done a thorough nice job of destroying any open debate on the BBC as well.

I noticed that in most of the threads about Adams' family, Alf and Harpo have spent a lot of time talking about the nationalist reaction to the news. I
think you've got your motivation for the threads right there.
