I would fast the dinner and wait until tomorrow morning to start the new food. You can give a raw bone to gnaw on so they don't feel like they're getting shortchanged on food. Oh, and just saw your comment above about Scarlett. Thanks! I'm 5'7 and she is taller than me!

Aww thanks for the nice comments! He is getting so big I can hardly believe it. He is still sleeping off his Thanksgiving dinner today. He did get the baked pig leather that was on the outside of the Ham today as a treat so he is ... loving this holiday.

Is there any pattern to it? Like is it overnight, when you are gone, etc? Are you sure he is going right before he gets in? Basic questions I know, but the more info the better

ok, she is celebrating her victory in the food battle She wouldn't eat it raw, or slightly cooked, or with garlic, or mixed with cooked - she would just pick out cooked pieces and spit raw on the floor. If she doesn't like it, I just don't see the reason to fight with her about her food. I need her to gain weight, not to loose weight. Maybe we'll try again later, with chicken. After she finishes 4 turkeys that I have in the...

I wish I had never taught Layla "shake" I don't mind, She's not going to toss anything up that I can't handle, BUT we have nieces and nephews... and we have to be VERY careful, because Layla think's she's being friendly, but could very possibly put an eye out or at least make a good scratch. Lately we've gotten good at teaching her to lay down to "meet" people. It works well....

I've always liked the idea of taking them on a walk together to get them used to each other. Mind, if someone could hold one and someone hold the other, and sort of on opposite sides so they aren't right next to each other. Other than that I have no other suggestions. I've not really had to intro any dog aggressive dogs before. Sorry! But good luck!

That is amazing!!! It's incredible what giving a dog a few minutes to calm down will do for behaviour. Too often, you see owners rushing their dogs into stressful or exciting situations and it almost always ends badly. And good for you for using tools that give you confidence and control and keep everyone safe. You and Trout are well on your way! Keep us posted on how she does with Bernie.

I would stay away from the dog park for now. Does he interact much with other dogs besides the one he lives with? Maybe he just needs more one on one socialization before he's ready to be exposed to multiple new dogs at once?

Try searing it just a little bit to warm it but it won't be cooked. Can put some garlic powder on it. Dogs like garlic.

You need to measure exactly what you are giving him, but assuming a "handful" is relatively similar to one cup, I'd say that is too much for his age. A pup his age should be eating about 3 cups per day, spread over three meals. And that is a crap food, so I would consider switching to something better.

Congrats to you! I would ask the breeder what they are feeding him and if there is a food requirement in your contract. I hope he is from a reputable breeder that does health testing, as danes are an expensive breed. If you do choose to change the food the breeder is feeding, make sure you do it slowly.

Hello and welcome... That is pretty small, my boy will be 6mo on Nov.24 and is just shy of 100lbs. I think we are going to need pic's before we can help.

I have a very similar story...
The breeder I got Louis from knew I used prongs on my Setters. She insisted NO prong on Louis. Well, that lasted till he was BIG and I was walking 3 very large, strong dogs at once.
None of my dogs have any issues with the prong, they are a great tool and harmless if used correctly. I think chokes are much more dangerous.
I know you don't want to disappoint ...

He cant walk at all today. Its his entire right side. I went to move him to take him out to potty and he screamed and cried. My heart is breaking! I decided to be late to school to take him to the vet. He seems to have a curled back this morning when he sits. Here is a pic from this morning. Best i could get, he cant stand.

I feed all my dogs, Louis, GD, Jack and Belle, English Setters, a combo of EaglePack original adult and Natural Balance something or other... I know they both come in blue bags.. I'm a lot of help, huh?
They're not grain-free... they have similar protein and fat percentages.
My dogs do fine, but I had a Golden live to be 17 on Science Diet!

Wow.
If she is 8 weeks pregnant, then the puppies are due in approximately 3 days.
Your original post said that your friend THINKS she is pregnant due to a mating, hanging tits, etc. If a bitch is due to have a litter in 3 days, believe me, you can tell!
I'm not sure you are getting the whole story. It sounds to me like they want to go ahead and have the puppies.
