We, in London, charge £106 inclusive for repairing them with a new diaphragm, an extra £9 if we replace the gland. Any parking costs extra. Its not what we do on site that you are mostly paying for, its being set up to know how to repair boilers and to get to you, find a parking space and to get you to answer the door! If we only need to spend five minutes inside I suppose you think we should just charge £6 ? Thats totally unrealistic as...

Its not clear to me exactly what you have done.
If you only changed the flattish front part the the rear manifold part may be jammed in the DHW position.
Or you left a CH valve underneath closed.
Or the CH return filter is clogged. __________________ ARGI Registered Engineer

Good evening.
Wonder if any sparkies out there can help me with this question. I have arranged for a local electrician to change an 20 year old consumer unit with a new one. I told him I would supply the parts and I wanted to pay him for the labour. Bit confused at which one to buy. I have a small flat (one bedroom). I have ring main, lights and cooker circuits only. Might ask him ...

Hi All
Have a megatech HW cylinder heated by a Vailant ecotec 428 boiler.
I've noticed that the boiler's water pressure increases from 1.0bar cold, to 1.6bar when hot - is that normal, or does that indicate a fault with the boilers expansion vessel (for example)
Also, if i turn the HW and CH off for a few days, when I turn back on, a small amount of water is discharged from...

thanks for your comments...the fire is in the lounge in front of the former open fire. it is sealed with the usual ally cover with a good updraught.
the gas engineer cut the pipe, bent it and capped the tap outlet...it is safe but disconnected. It has been used for years and the user is a responsible person. I want to know if the rules demand FFD's on all gas fires whether existing or new. ...

Guys,
I'm just in the process of insulating my loft and have an area where 4 downlighters are exposed in the roofspace. At present there is no insulation over the downlighters , just the cables exposed. I'd like to lay a blanket of insualtion over the area but am concerned about any potential fire risk due to heat build up. I guess the insulation is fireproof but probably best to be safe...
