They aren't allowed to touch the tree. Sorry I forgot that rule. Besides I don't hide it that well. Linda This message has been edited. Last edited by: linn929 , Nov 25, 2009 08:06 PM

Hi platypusjones, To add to the information that has already been posted, remove the vinyl and the underlay below it to get back to the sub floor. Now check the subfloor thickness, if is 1" OSB or 3/4" plywood, you need to add at least 3/8" exterior grade plywood to bring the total thickness of the subfloor to at least 1 1/4" thick. Now you have a choice whether to lay 1/4" or 1/2" cement backer board, or much...

Linda, Thanks for the explanation, but I am wondering how you keep the kids from destroying your tree while they search for the pickle? lol I have seen the pickle ornaments, and I thought it was kind of strange, but now I see the light! TFS

I see no way bottom cabinets will work out, the counter top will be far to shallow, the sink will not not have enough room to be mounted, there's going to be almost no room to store anything like pans or cookie sheets, a standard countertop would have far to much over hang, you would have to set them on some sort of platform so the doors would not be dragging on the floor, any appliace would be sticking way out into the room past the...

wine my speckled behind, sounds like somebody was running a still during prohibition there, everything done under cover of night. which explains why it wasn't done right. don't tell me, let me guess, the walls are cut plain into the earth, right, no construction materials? wife lived in a duplex with the ground under the porch dug out like that from previous occupants, as well as a small dig under the patio. perfect places to hide...

A couple of reasons to use the backer - 1. Even though the backer is bonded to the subfloor with thinset and held down with screws, the backerboard isolates much of the movement of the subfloor from the tile. 2. If you attach tile to a wooden subfloor with thinset, some of the moisture from the thinset will be absorbed into the wood. This makes a thin layer of dryer thinset which will not bond as well.

Complete gut costs

Just thinking: It could possibly be more costly than one would think, depending on possible asbestos removal/disposal as well as how far away or close by any necessary disposal site is?

Okay i have an appt on sat am with the man who did my kitchen cabinets. He said no problem we can do that with some upper cabinets. They can custom build anything LOL, i said yeah but i think stock will work and be cheaper but come on out and see what you think. We will see how far blown a $500 budget is. (not including the top...I can get tiles that match the kitchen granite in 12x12, if it can hold the weight that is what i would prefer to...

Right now I am trying to get my SB supplies organized but I have so much it's overwhelming. I do have most of my paper organized. The stuff I use evryday doesn't get put away. My favorite organizatonal item is some clear canisters my mom gave me. They all have a different color embellishments in them. She got me two sets. So it's really nice to go to each canister and know that it's only one color. Have a great day. Vickiy

I have been digi scrapping for about a year, I still do traditional scrapping, but digi is really nice. I bought Creative Memories storybook creator plus 3, I do not recommend it, I'm sorry that I bought it. You can get a lot of free downloads of the internet. This is a good site, and everything is free, check it out. http://digifree.blogspot.com/

I just started making resin jewelry too, but I purchased my items from a site called " Little Windows". My photos were printed on photo paper and have come out really clear. I just bought a complete kit to make them so everything was provided for me, including the molds. I am now trying to search for inexpensive cords or chains that I can put my pendants on. I have looked online, but they are ...

First off, forget the guy who want so set tile on top of the existing vinyl. Bad idea all around - thinset will not bond well to the vinyl and the overall bond of the tile floor is limited to how well the vinyl is attached. As to the rest, the short story is that you spend a lot of money on tile and a lot of time and/or money on installation - you might as well do it right while you have the ...

Hi Bluesgod, First of all where are you located? The reason I ask is that if you are located in an area where there is a cold winter, frost will penetrate deep into the ground and unless this structure is deeper than the frost, water which is absorbed by the bricks will freeze and cause them to fail over time. In addition, how deep below grade is this structure particularly at the ceiling. ...

Hi Christine721, First welcome to the DIY Boards. It is difficult to offer suggestions even though you have provided a good amount of information in your post. To make it easier you might consider posting a couple of pictures of the area and possibly a diagram of what you wish to do. As it stands now we must create a mental image of your space and this is difficult as each of us perceives the ...

Sorry, I am afraid that I , nor anyone here will be able to make it any clearer. You need to get quotes from folks in your area. We can not see what needs to be done and labor estimates very geatly depending on the area of the country you live in. I should think, that unless you have unlimited disposble income, that the demo you should be able to handle. So that you do not get burned out. I might...

Hi Grant_h09, You could apply oak 1/4 round or a similar trim piece and that would could be stained to match your risers and treads and should hide those gaps.

It's been a while since I personally cut marble tiles. There is a pro online here that I'm sure can answer your question well. But I was having the same problem once so what I did was set the depth of the blade to cut half way through on one side. Then I would flip the marble tile over and cut the other half. That seemed to prevent spliting down the veins. Also, take it very very very slow. Make ...

I have to say that out of all of the scrapbooking supplies that I have, I'm most thankful for the paper cutter, it is the one thing that I use every time I scrap. Before I bought one, my pages were slightly skewed. LOL! Seriously, I have a lot of equipment that I just had to have, that rarely gets used and just takes up space, but I can't seem to part with any of it, just in case I might need it ...

Hi philb00, I'll leave the discussion of which pump might be better to others more familiar with the pumps. You might wish to check out the prices of the 2 pumps mentioned in the link below. If you paid $450 for the pump and its installation you might wish to see what the pump itself could cost so you have an idea of what you also pay for labour and the service call to install it, though if you ...

If you clean it well, I don't think sanding would be necessary, with a good primer. I have been gradually changing my kitchen (shiney brass hardware/knobs, pulls and hinges) to a color to match cabinet paint. I just clean them well with TSP, rinse and dry well. Then use a Rustoleum spray primer and topcoat with their spray enamel. The primer sticks just fine to the surface with no sanding.
