I would never, ever want to see Chris Nolan take on The Spirit. IMHO, The Spirit requires a certain levity that Nolan either refuses to infuse in his films or is simply incapable of. It's probably the same reason I've disliked most genre television since the cancelations of both Buffy and Angel. Shows like Lost and Heroes just take themselves wayyyyyyyyyyyy too seriously for my tastes.

I liked it, I was wondering why they didn't continue from issue 1 but the White Ghost vs. Azreal fight was cool. All in all it was a good issue and I hope that this book succeeds.

Doesn't make sense. If you gene splice something you would give it genetic properties of it's donor. In this case though the splicing did the opposite? If you gene splice an aardvark with an elephant would you get a creature with a lion's mane?
I just don't think genes from a kryptonian and a human would result in something that can EMIT red solar radiation....

I'll buy it alright, but only for Bats. The re-color is fun and the JLoA Bats has been my fave for a while. (At least until Neal Adams...)
Supes is the same
Hal is a bit different but still mildly boring.
WW is just awful. That head is just odd looking, but I'll have to make better judgements in person.

No if anything I think it is important for Superman to be rebooted every 25 years or so to keep him relevant in the DCU for each generation. I don't see any evidence that his character has actually been per say damaged by these reboots. Batman has had almost as many reboots, or at least massive history retcons, and there's no doubt to how successful that franchise has been...

...How's the writing, more importantly?
I thought the first two issues were meh, but the third issue wasn't half bad. This issue sort of seems like filler to me between the origin arc and the core requirements arc with Batman and Robin...so is the issue filler, or it worth it?

No, he cannot.
And I think we're really talking about his redemption in OUR eyes, the readers. I think this goes far beyond an eye for an eye. You're right in saying he's possibly the worst mass murderer in DC's history so anyone, real or fictional, who doesn't think he's beyond redemption is VERY forgiving, in my opinion.
