That response doesn't tell me anything that I don't already know. In addition, I am not going to put new software on my computer that I don't want, and/or having tools that would be equal or greater to pctools. I appreciate your help, but I have had Tom, and Acrobaze help me before so I will wait for their advice or another staff member.

Spy Sweeper crashes the computer when it scans the registry however, so I believe there is some problem. Thanks in advance! Hi, I was reading the above thread. I have the exact same problem. (C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\.vbe; C;\WINDOWS\system32\.vbe; Virus identified VBS/Worm.Y detected on open) The threat keeps popping up as an AVG alert, however when I click 'remove threats', another pop up informs me that the files could not be healed as 'specified file was not found'. If I follow the instructions provided ...

However when I restarted it took ages to load, none of the sidebar apps opened as it is vista and couldn't access the Internet as it says it couldn't be found. I still have access on my main computer and when I tried to go into help and support to restore the computer ...

We recently installed high speed cable internet. We installed a brand new ethernet card into a computer that is approximately 8-10 years old, running Windows ME. Upon start up, Windows detected the ethernet card and auto-installed the drivers. However, upon plugging an ethernet cable into the back of the PC, the computer proceeded to freeze. It would continue to do this on restart attempts....

When you say you are using old windows 98, is that on another PC or are you dual-booting the one PC between windows 98 and XP? If your old 98 PC has email I will email the programs to you and you can transfer them onto a cd or usb flash stick. Can you then transfer the programs to the XP PC? Can you see/use Mycomputer? ...
