I had the WORST day today - got no sorting of stash done at all. It took me FIVE hours to balance the checkbook - Quicken and the bank wouldn't talk to each other, and I wound up having to manually balance every transaction back to March. Aiieee! Then dinner was late and I finally got a chance to get dressed (after wearing my housecoat all day!!), and my bra was still damp from the dryer....

I think I may have found a place in Nashville, TN where we could have a relatively affordable crochet retreat in 2009. Here is what I'm tentatively thinking: Arrive on Thursday Retreat Friday, Saturday, Sunday Depart on Monday Main purpose: just hanging out with each other and crocheting Optional: small informal classes if we can get members who will teach something for free ...

The hook arrived at my home today from Jimbo. We are looking forward to raising awareness for Freidreichs Ataxia http://www.curefa.org/education/friedreichs_ataxia .asp . We would love to make Jessica( for whom the hook is named) http://jimbosfrontporch.blogspot.com...sica-hook.h tml and others afflicted with this disorder, afghans. I have contacted a representative from FARA about signing up...

Oooh, I'm so glad I've found you! My name is Aurora, I live in Portsmouth. I have been able to crochet granny squares for a few years now, but got bored and didn't progress any further. Now I am making things for my first child; my knitting skills progressed rapidly thanks to the bias in pattern availability here. Cute as the knitted jumpers I have made are, I prefer the process of ...

I've looked everywhere and I can't find it. It was a Susan Bates "H" hook my grandma gave me over 25 years ago. I could have lost it somewhere while we were on vacation, which means I'll never see it again. I have a couple of other H hooks but none I like as much as that one. My newest H hook is the Susan Bates bamboo handled one and the paint is chipping on it and it has a rough spot on ...

Colourful Times - 14 CPK baby. Top
This was started with RH Kids yarn which is finer than the usual WW yarn. Because of this I started with a 4mm hook but it was really wayyyyy too small for the WW yarn that I used for the rest. I happen to really dislike a stiff crochet fabric but I guess that is a personal thing
Ignore it lol ...

Is it just me or have others noticed this? When did 20 and 30 year old patterns and yarn become vintage? Did I miss something? When I was younger, only very OLD items were spoken of as vintage, such as dresses from the Civil War, or 100 year old lace, or patterns from numerous generations back from the "old country." Now I see items not as old as ... lets say the Viet Nam War, being ...

A friend of a friend has asked me to crochet her son a lovey (blankey) its just a 3x3 blanket, because his is falling apart. ok that sounds great, but then she added this "It needs to have long tassels, because I trained my son to suck the tassels instead of a pacifier" Now I am so not against binky time and all that, but it sounds super icky to just let a kid suck on yarn all day,...

I know we shouldn't live with regrets, but I do so wish I had learned to crochet earlier! Of course not everyone is interested as a young person, but how AMAZING would it have been to crochet for my wedding? Or table cloths and blankets and SO MUCH MORE for my home? Or preparing for each baby? Learning while homeschooling four children is certainly not a sob story, but it's also definitely not ...
