How do you save recipes?
Published (2009-11-20 19:53:00)
My basic method, including print magazines, is to find the recipe on the internet and save in a word file--and I do have sub categories. I would never find anything if I did not. I also have a family recipe binder, made for me for my wedding, that I occasionally add to. I agree with josie--my favorite way to remember successful recipes is my blog. I have no comment on the weight business.

I did the game Oskie described at a work event and it was by far the least painful of such games I've had to play. It's nice because it gets people to have an actual conversation and you learn more than just one fact about them. I have a friend who gives people name tags and has those colored dot stickers to correspond to their relationship to the hostess: green=college, yellow=work, red=church, etc. It allows people to introduce...

Kathy - thanks for kicking off the new week! I'm so impressed that your family will do the turkey trot together, even tho you have to work. Will you all do official Tday dinner on Fri instead? OMG - you should totally do a half next year!! You run so consistently, I'm sure you could do it with or without hills. It's a fabulous goal. I didn't think I'd get in a workout today, but DH talked me into it. So glad I went! 40...

How do you save recipes?
Published (2009-11-20 12:09:00)
On the internet, I have a bookmark folder marked "Recipes" - I could subgroup them into recipes I will make again and recipes I want to make, but that seems like too much hassle From magazines, I clip recipes I want to try and glue them into a little "scrapbook". It is a little disorganized but I still do it. For family recipes, I have a family cookbook with removable pages and blank pages. So I can write...

I have both a 10+ year old Braun and a new Cuisinart with attachments. I would have bought a Braun instead of the Cuisinart (it was for the RV), but apparently they are extremely hard to find in the States these days (at least this past summer when I was shopping). Michelle

I freeze the Marbled Banana Bread all the time (I normally cook it in 4 mini loaf pans vs 1 large). It freezes great! I've also kept in fridge for at least a week with no problems (I live in Panama so keep all baked goods in fridge!)

Sorry to hear about that. Hopefully you don't have water damage on top of the pipes. On a smaller scale, my younger DS hit the curb yesterday while driving. Fortunately he didn't hit anything else but I still needed to fix the wheel, buy 2 new tires, and get an alignment (1 tire was from the alignment issue). And I just realized I have to smog my car before I can register it. Wasn't planning...

The things that my family eats that are high in calories are the home made Italian pastries. We have these once or twice a year at the most, so I don't sweat it. I'm making cheesecake, too, and I haven't made a cheesecake in at least 4 years. This time of year, I splurge only on the special stuff that we don't eat often and don't overindulge in everyday stuff. For example, I avoid ...

OH MY GOD. I am soooooooooooo sorry. Is it MRSA? or the strep??? In any event, I hope and pray for a quick recovery. There was a small child in the UK that had something and no antibiotic would help. They pulled all the antibiotics and the bacteria died...they'd mutated to survive ON the antibiotics so removing them killed the bugs. Please keep us updated!

Darn it! I wanted to see it, but got engrossed in doing something else. I'm sure there will be excerpts on TV. I'm glad that it was a good interview. I heard that when Obama was running that she refused to have Palin on, although I don't absolutely know if that is true. I hope this thread doesn't disintegrate into an "I Hate Palin" discourse. I'm not a huge fan of hers, but I'd like...

Both of my kids have bitten their fingernails. DD was a thumbsucker, DS was not, but seems to have never totally outgrown the thing that babies put everything in their mouths. I bought this stuff called Malovo STOP (I think that is the name). We call it "yucky nailpolish" and it is a bitter tasting nail polish. I just put it on their nails at bedtime every night for a few weeks and it ...

hmmmm.... this is a dilemma. Do you know the folks that are coming very well? Do some of them have dishes they bring that they are proud of and everyone looks forward to?
