Your question about the location of a serial number is a frequently asked question. As a result, there is an excellent answer to your question in the FAQ. See: Q2: Where is the Hull Identification Number? http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/FAQ/#Q2

Converting Yamaha 15 hp 4 stroke...
Published (2009-11-27 11:01:00)
You are going to have to try it and see. Without a tach, gonna be tough. The extra 5hp won't really do much. Like most 4 strokes it adds it to the top end. So basically your engine instead of redlining at 5500 for instance will now redline at 6300. Not sure how much that helps or prolongs the engine life. I had an opportunity to buy a ECM for my 40hp Suzuki off a 50. All it does it mess with a few internals and raises the redline from...

No 18 foot boat will be comfortable in a three foot chop. As far as 18 foot center console fishing boats go, the versatility of the Outrage 18 is almost impossible to beat. I am on my 2nd one because I recognized the mistake I made after selling my first. You won't go wrong buying an Outrage 18 but like eveything, check it out thoroughly. P.S. I predict Tony will be owning his 2nd Outrage 18 within 2 years.

Before the gate totally close on this thread; I will state on this Thanksgiving Day; That thanks to people like Jim here; A spirit of togetherness will remain and evolve into yet another memorable summer Rendez-Vous. This is what we are fundamentally all about; Serious Whaler boating, a Great Run And a humdinger of a celebration afterward. Thank You Jim for all the time, efforts and sweat spent in making this Event into a reality. I wish that...

When I saw that transom photo in Jim's article, I had forgotten how shallow the 12 degree vee really is. It really was a very conservative move from the predeccesor 19 Outrage transom shape, not much different at all, basically just straightening out the rounded curves into a conventional Vee. Compare the two photos: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v429/lgoltz/Outrage%2019/?action=view& current=Scan0006.jpg I guess that shows that...

Look at every thing and anything you may need on your boat and trailer, they will have it. You need to make any and all notes on your boat and take every measurement to compare with. I live in Ft. Standard Horizon has a new GX2100 VHF Marine Band radio with AIS receiver that has a minimum advertise price of $400. For coastal and commercially navigable lake and river small boat owners this could be a unit that provides all the VHF features you want plus provides AIS capability in both transmit and receive modes. The ability to know when you are in the path of or on a meeting course with ...

Git Rot is liquid epoxy. I would use a heat lamp to dry the holes in the deck. Then use a syringe to inject any liquid epoxy ( I use West System). Then paint or gel-coat over the epoxy. Con

Since 2003 the E-TEC 90-HP has become a very popular engine for powering small boats in the 16 to 17 foot range. It is particularly suited for re-power applications with older boats which cannot handle the larger size and greater weight of many new outboard motors. The relatively compact size of the E-TEC and its moderate weight make it attractive for use on older transoms. Bombardier have ...

I would say it depends on the wax. Some wax, like Collinite, is not supposed to be left to dry. If you do, it is a bugger to get off. I really don't see how leaving it on would provide any more protection than the waxed surface itself.

The two-part epoxy paints with the trade names AWLGRIP and IMRON are often used to paint boat hulls. There are many prior discussions about these paints: http://continuouswave.com/cgi-bin/sw.pl?Search=AWL GRIP http://continuouswave.com/cgi-bin/sw.pl?Search=IMR ON

Hi All, The boat is washed, waxed, and ready for a new prop. Unfortunately, it seems that none of the local shops in SF Bay Area have any Laser II, Enertia, or Stiletto Advantage II props for demo or even in stock. Would anyone be able to loan me one of the props below for testing? Or can anyone suggest a course of action? Would very much like to test props before buying. Tom - Is that 19" ...

Thanks Jim, for a well articulated and pragmatic review of boating costs. The problem with me is, I don't stop to think about these things. The reason- In my strung out, wrung out, professionally challenging, dealing with the world as we know it life, boating is the only thing, that absolutely takes me down a notch. I am at peace on the water. The value= unquantifiable.

Mercury used the same term when they brought out the Verado. Mercury also said it would be three to five years before the competition could "reverse engineer" the Verado techology, including the DTS. Is Yamaha bringing out supercharged four-cycle engine? Or maybe a second generation HPDI two-cycle to compete with OptiMax in the bass boat segment.

Yes, the 70-HP two-cycle Yamaha is the classic engine for [a classic Boston Whaler 15-foot] boat, and none better, yet, that I can tell having three different engines on my four 15-footers. However this engine is harder and harder to find new and some areas of the country will not allow its use anymore. These hulls, which aren't being made anymore, are out lasting the original engines. Those of ...

I [may purchase] a [1984 Boston Whaler OUTRAGE 18] with a 115-HP Evinrude. [I] presently cruise the [Great Lakes] in a Sea Ray 300W, and I have a 1980 Boston Whaler 15-footer to play with in the waves. The thought was that after 20 years of cruising I would down size to the Outrage 18, which I could then trailer to whereever the fish are biting. Now someone says the Outrage is junk. Would ...

I also [ask]: what is the difference between the three pumps--1.7, 2.0, 2.4? What does each size pump do? Do the pumps move more fluid for each size or more pressure? Thanks

Just got an e-mail from Matt, he will be home until the 11th of December (Friday) He leaves that day. That pretty much leaves December 5, 2009 as a Saturday date for the Rendezvous that he would be available for. He said not to plan it around him, but I think it would be nice to have him aboard. Im hanging a E-TEC 60-HP on a 15-foot ALERT made up as a GLS II. I ordered up both the 13.2 x 19 aluminum and the 13-7/8 x 19 SST stainless propellers; the SST will go on first. I also told the shop to jack the motor up about an inch or two to match the height of the Yamaha F60 that's coming off the GLS II and going over to my 15-foot Center Console to replace a Yamaha 70-HP two-cycle. I'll let ...
