During these posts I was downloading 2010 Beta but used a different version of Office which was the Home and Business Edition. Basically it downloads and installs silently while you view the Power Point Presentation that opens for you automatically. So I have 2007 and 2010 installed with no issues yet but that does't mean no issues will arise. I can simply nuke my OS and reinstall but others may not be able to so do as you wish if you...

Yes smoking can have ill effects on a PC. But you know what, the same thing can be said of dust. It isnt just a overnight thing. It will take more than a year for the gunk to build up on it. Seriously though if these people are that scared of something that technically is benign at the time (2nd hand smoke is the most dangerous when it exits the person, not off of a device/article of clothing or anything like that) then they should go find a...

Re: Decent office system fo $250-$300 range? In this case the emachines has a better processor, 1 gig more ram, a monitor, keyboard/mouse, and Vista Home Premium OS. The 9500GT is NOTHING to scream about and you can buy it for $50 at newegg if you wanted to throw it in. The tigerdirect one doesn't come with an OS, add an additional $110 for that. But it's really your choice, if you feel more comfortable with the tigerdirect one then...

you also have to consider the power supply. if its too weak, it will limit what kinds of cards you can upgrade to. post some info on it, like make/model, or watts/amps (all of which is located on the sticker on the psu itself)

Okay, so the thing is working now. I used the fail-safe option within BIOS and now everything works. What is up with that? By the way, I did go back to CMOS and changed my settings back were they were before the mishap, and everything still works. I'm at a loss. Anyone?

What do you mean it does not support 1080p? What resolution is your monitor. My old 7800gtx is serving as a media center running 1920x1080 on my 40" 1080p tv.
You can sli the 1gb with a 512mb gts250 but you will loose 512 or vram on the 1gb card. If you already have a 512 then get another. If you have a 1gb then get a second 1gb card.

Go into your BIOS, and Increase the FSB by 5 until you're unable to boot. Once you find your maximum, use Prime95 to test for stability. If you find that you're stable, leave it there. If you're not, back down the FSB in small increments, until you're stable. Prime95 will need to be ran for a while to test for full stability. You can try running Intel Burn Test, but I had problems running it ...

Well for Christmas this year, my father told me I have a budget of $1000 to buy components for a new PC. So far I have looked at some stuff and tried to stay as cost-effective I can and get the most bang for the buck, but I'm really out of the hardware news right now. I have some parts picked out, and I am looking for some general feedback. The main thing I'm looking for in this PC is to get ...

How to run XP mode in windows 7? Okay, I have windows 7 pro 64 bit installed. I have both things needed to run xp mode installed. BUT whenever I try to launch it, it says the virtualization is either off ( even though it's on ) or that I might have to turn Trusted Execution Technology off in the BIOS but I've never seen an option for that :|

Win 7 upgrade... Okay, my wife bought be a copy of windows 7 ultimate 64 edition. Problem is I am running vista ultimate 32. Obviously, because of this, I cannot upgrade to windows 7 64. My question is, can i put XP 64 back on my computer and upgrade from there? If this has been asked a million times, I apologize.
Thanks!
